How do you end up with black below 0 in a graphic anyway?

I think there’s some bugs in the broadcast safe filter. For something so basic, I’d just open up the color board and raise the black level.

Duplicate shots? Dupe detection. We don’t have that. But we sort of have a reverse detection. Turn on “show used media ranges” and an orange line will appear under used areas of a shot in the event browser. So it helps determine if you’ve already used a shot as you’re choosing a shot, but isn’t useful for determining if a shot is duplicated in the timeline after the fact. Dupe detection would be a great, standard pro editing feature for the last 20 years, to be added back in, but Randy Ubullios didn’t have a need for it in his scuba videos so it never made it into X.

Wondering what system you’re on Bill. Optimized has never increased performance much for me. Just eats up space. Proxies would make sense for dealing with 4k, but in my tests with mxf, h264, avchd, I get minimal performance boost if any from optimizing. But I’m using an iMac. Seems that MacPro users seem to have more difficulty with h264 based formats because they don’t have the accelerated h264 encode/decode. As for h264 exports in HD, a 3 min timeline is often a matter of seconds to export. Maybe 1/4 to 1/3 the total of the timeline depending on complexity. But certainly much faster than actually rendering the timeline. And how do you almost have 5 years of experience with X? It was released 4 years and 2 months ago.

I never use proxy, but couldn’t you go find the proxies, and just import them to a new library as regular media and output that?

Why not have the left side image with left teeth and rt side image with rt teeth and just have them both page peel away so everything stays synced together. I’d add the zipper pull on top and just slide it down slightly ahead of the peel. Anyway, certainly doable!

Ah true I remember playing with that years ago. But not exactly the same thing is it? Do you have to add cf to get the scopes? But AE has video out so I can always use scopes on the Flanders.

How can you NOT, for better or worse, see FCPX 1.0 as iMovie pro? It was compatible with iMovie. It shared the same paradigms with iMovie. It looked and functioned like iMovie. And the first priority was feature parity with iMovie. It is still compatible with iMovie and today they apparently share the same code base. Maybe iMovie should be called rough cut and X should be called final cut, but in any case FCP X 1.0 was everything iMovie could do, plus some.
