That’s great it worked out. In the past we had to use expensive convertor boxes so it’s fantastic we can do it with software and a little knowledge

I agree with Alan. However if only one source is 30fps, I would export from Media Encoder at 25fps and then import into your 25fps project. You can then edit the project at 25 and export whatever you wish at the end.

If you see a time difference then you can try changing the speed of the clip. The difference between 30 fps (really 29.97) is 4.1% faster. It’s possible the speed difference will be small, so you could also try changing speed by .1%. The pitch will change at the larger number but you can use a Premiere filter to adjust or else pitch correct in Audition.

    Kevin

Thanks, I did some looking there but time-consuming. I did find an app called Whatthefont which can do what I described and found out the font is Elefantasia, which although not in Typekit was only 10 bucks.

Maybe Adobe can add that feature in an update as it’s really helpful for those of us who don’t know enough about graphics to know too many font names.

There was a nice article about Sherlock in Digital Video magazine maybe a year or so ago.

It mentioned it was shot with two Arri Alexas most of the time, but they also used DSLRS for certain shots. Most interestingly, they would take a series of still pics at different focal lengths, then stitch them together for a staccato kind of zoom that was very effective dramatically.

They also talked about how they created the text/numeric images when Sherlock is thinking.

    Hi Eric

Yeah, the files played fine without the Aja card, but ultimately I decided to get an HP Z800 and Kona LHi which seems to have solved my problems and is much faster and more flexible than what I had.

    Thanks

  • Never mind, I found it on Atto’s site.

I’m sure it will probably be easy to find, but can you tell us what salon or hall it’s in ?

    Thanks

    Hi Alex

That was exactly it. I was so glad to get Media Encoder running I totally forgot about updating. Thanks for your help

    Tom

Thanks, that explains the problem. I also have Kona with FCP and no problems there. I guess I’ll have to open the file in FCP and make a new QT with timecode there.

    Really appreciate your help

    Hi Chris

Yes, it’s for broadcast and I’m required to delivery embedded timecode. I did some tests since I posted and the problem seems to be whenever I use AJA sequence settings. I have Kona LHe card. I’m able to edit to digibeta tape using timeode.

If I use non-Aja preset for DV the timecode is there. However that’s 720×480 and I don’t want to alter the 720×486 files.

I also tried Blackmagic presets and they work fine.

    Any ideas?

    Bret
