Looks like you have the i3 dual core processor. You really need at least a quad core and a good video card. What video card is in there?

January 16, 2013 at 6:19 pm in reply to: HUDL copyright infringement issues

If you want to spend the money, have an attorney send a strongly worded letter to HUDL and the offending persons.

In the future, if you post on VIMEO, you can also attach a password. That way only the persons you give the password will be able to view the video. They can email coaches, etc. with the password.

To make it a pain for the offenders, change the location of your watermark every few minutes to different parts of the video. Also, put a disclaimer at the beginning of your videos to clearly state that violation, or unauthorized useage may result in significant penalty up to $500,000 per play or to the full extent of the law.

There are two popular software plugins. One is Red Giant’s “Magic Bullet LOOKS” and the other is GenArts “Sapphire Edge.”

I would lean toward a card issue. Stop using that card and pop in a new one to see if you have the issue. If not, then you’ve found the culprit.

Just make sure anything you buy is compatible with your specific camera. If though it may be for a JVC, some remotes don’t always work with all brands.

Was there florescent lighting in the room? If they didn’t turn off the room lighting and use their own lights, then this may have been the problem.

Here is another camera that might fit your needs and still allow you to use your cannon lenses with an adaptor. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/887069-REG/Sony_nex_ea50h_Sony_NEX_EA50_Camcorder_with.html

By the way, you won’t tire your sensor. The 5D’s will hold up for a long, long, time.

January 8, 2013 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Will a “better” computer h*lp me?

Yes, you need a better graphics card. As they say in video land, the more the better.

By the way, you have a quad core system, not a dual core. The i7 is a quad core chip. I’d recommend at least a gig video card. You also need more memory for Adobe’s software to take advantage of the processing.

Laptop’s are not really great at processing after effects projects. They fill the need when you are on the road, but not for your main editing machine.

So, it comes down to money. I love Mac’s, but you can get a great machine on the PC side for around half the price.

December 21, 2012 at 4:41 pm in reply to: Problems converting XDCamEX .Mov files to MP4 for Web

Did you edit as ProRes? It needs to be edited in proper format. I export my current settings first so I have a best quality edit. Then for VIMEO, for example, I select File, Export, and change the settings to 720p 1280 x 720HD, 5000kbps, AIF audio 24k, set to download or stream.

I do the conversion from Final Cut and I haven’t had any issues. But if I need a later conversion, I sometimes use Adobe’s CS6 presets for VIMEO.
