yes, you’re right, I didn’t see the iMac part. But, it’ll work on a Mac Pro laptop with the express card slot.

This is part of the reason, I haven’t updated my system software on my Mac in 2 years. I have so many plugin’s, etc. that would have to be updated. I almost want to just go out a buy a new computer before I update. I don’t have the patient’s anymore, and everything is running so smoothly, why mess with a good thing.

I saw the demo of the Matrox MXO2Mini. I was amazed at the speed of converting videos. Compressor is just to darn slow.

You can use the Matrox MXo on a Mac.

This is about a week late, so hopefully you’ve landed the client. Always, meet their needs as long as you are getting your rate.

I also look at a corporate client as a continuing revenue source. So, after you’ve finished what they want, do a short demo edit of how it could be the next time your work together, to give them something to think about should they want to use your services.

Do the boring edit they want, and them show them a 3 minute, wow edit to educate them.

Finally, you have to build the relationship with the client. Once the trust is there, they will always look to you for advice and guidance. Money will be less of an issue to them and they will always come to you first and not waste time bidding.

Sometimes it’s easy to loose a job because of pushing production over what the client is asking for.

  • I’d have to agree with Noah. It’s easy to say, stick it to the man. But, I like to eat. Sometimes you have to learn to bite your tongue and roll with the flow.

The upside; You have a job you love…and you get paid for it. Getting a new owner, or a new boss is always a change in the way management operates and you have to change with their requirements.

Eventually they will cozy up to how you work.

Being self employed has it’s benefits, but it is also a whole different ballgame when you have to chase the dollar. I don’t get paid vacations, insurance, or a salary, unless I go out an earn it. If I get sick, & don’t work, I don’t get paid. It’s a lot of responsibilities most people are not equipped to deal with.

Each software may treat the information differently, along with correct lighting conditions, etc. It sounds like a halo effect. If you can find your feather settings, you should be able to fade it out. I’m just guessing here.

Well, I guess eventually we’ll all find out. I hope it’s not like the idiot light our cars used to have when you were low on oil. Once it came on, it was too late.

    I’m a confused multi-directional operator. I eat, write, rifle in left hand…all sports activities in my right….maybe I’m just a confused soul… : )

I have to use my left eye for focus or I’m really in trouble. Just started using the old dollar store reading glasses to help. I’ve never worn glasses, but now I’m getting older and the eyes are starting to go south.

Make sure the camera has the latest firmware updates.

There isn’t much data on hours. This discussion came up when everyone started moving away from tape. I don’t think hours have as much effect as where and how the camera has been used.

January 14, 2011 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Which camera ex3 or 350K?

You need to look at both spec’s and evaluate them on your needs. Big budget difference, so if you have an unlimited budget, then you have an easier choice.

You can purchase 2 EX3’s for the price of the 350k.
