Now if they would make cameras for “Lefties.” My right eye doesn’t work as well as my left, so I have to mount it backwards and use my left eye……..not ideal for shoulder mounted cameras.

Ian covered it all. Sony came out with the Log and Transfer plugin last year. It is much faster and easier than using another software to transcode.
It also allows you to transfer Canon 5D and 7D files.

I have the Lowel Riffa soft box which soften’s the HD wrinkles on your subject’s face.
I have a light kit, but one day I decided to use my inexensive LED on camera lights that I purchased from lcd4video.com (R-3 for $100)
It has a built in warm filter on the light.
https://www.lcd4video.com/categories/LED-Video-Lights/I used 3 of these for a shoot, spot, fill, hair light and they looked better than my $3,000 light kit. They’ve also come out with a new LED on camera light for $200 with more lumens.
Now I still show up with my big softbox kit for my bigger corporate clients, more for show than anything. But I’m using these LED lights more and more, because the final result is still good.
I have 2 cheap tripods or light stands to hold the on camera lights in position.
I use the Sony wireless Lav. I recently purchased a lav mic shield so I can hide the mic inside a shirt while still picking up the interviews. The Sony has never had any problems with interference. I did a seminar shoot with 12 cameras and 24 wireless systems going in multiple conference rooms with no interference problems.

I met the 2 brother’s who won the first Million Dollar Doritos’s commercial.
The first time they entered, they won $25,000. The next year they won it all. This was the commercial where they asked a question, shook the 8 ball and threw it through the vending glass. Then another guy asked if he would get a raise, shook it, & threw it into his Bosses lower twins.
Funny, sophomoric humor always wins. It’s about the story, production comes second.

I’ve run into the same issue. Local bands have NO MONEY unless Daddy is rich. I usually give them a range of productions to choose from explaining how much production will be covered for each.
I always ask them what they can afford to spend and start from there.
This did open the doors for a big artist project for me. Sometimes working for FREE can pay off big.
Make sure you have a contract in place. You can put a price on the back end also in case they get signed to a label or sell the DVDs. They must purchase the DVD’s or BluRay from you and then they can sell them at their own price. You’ve been paid.
I used to shoot dance recitals. I never charged the dance studio, but had exclusive rights to film. They didn’t allow parents to use cameras and they helped me sell the DVD’s. I probably made more money not charging than I would have setting a price.
For a recent concert shoot, I covered the production cost, with a guaranteed pre-order of DVD’s & BluRay Discs that I will be paid for at a set price, which in reality paid for my production and much, much, more.

3 minutes may not sound like much, but I remember when panasonic came out with the 63 minute tapes. They were a savior when filming Catholic Weddings, which lasted exactly 60 minutes and then I had the bridal party coming down the isle with the 60 minute tape running out.
