Ian:
I don’t remember which version of firmware I had, but I bought my EX-1 within a year of it’s release, so it was a pretty early version.
Some people had no problems using the SD adaptors, but as newer different cards became available, it became a crapshoot. Even cards that were working for other’s, were not necessarily working across the board. I just know that my experience has shown the new firmware fixed all of these previous issues.

What version of Premier? Why didn’t you shoot in HD?
CS5 has presets for YouTube and Vimeo. Just select and export. Works great.

Ian, I have to disagree. I had this issue with the old firmware. After I updated it, I never had this problem again.
Have you had this problem with other cards? Or do you only have the one card. Try other cards. If you don’t have that problem with other cards, it’s your card. If you have the same cards, and they all give you this problem, your cards may not be compatible, or to slow to keep up….or you need to upgrade your firmware.
Post your card info, so we are not guessing.

That is why I never deal with public schools. I have dealt with private schools with no problems.

The 60D is a great option. That’ll cost your $1,000. Then you only have $500 for a lens.
Canon has a 50mm 1.2 lens for only $300. It’s a great lens for the price. It is limited in distance, but with your budget, it may be the best starting point.
I recommend the L-Series lenses when you have the budget. It’s all about the glass you put on your camera. The L-Series 24-70 2.8, will give you some flexibility in what you shoot.

Not sure about it except that it probably is sized according to your lens.

I wish they would change the format so we wouldn’t have to start / stop the video so much. FAT 32 is what limits it to 4 gig.
If you’re using a single camera for long recording events, you have to train yourself to start / stop the recording at a pause or a switch in action so you won’t cut off something important.

Liability insurance is cheap. State Farm has it in most states. Around $250 for a year. Nobody is going to give you one day coverage…that I’m aware of.
If you don’t have it, you’re risking your business.

Are you using the log and transfer through final cut, or the sony transfer software?
I have an older quad core and I use the log and transfer. It works fine, no issues.
Make sure you drop your clip onto the timeline and let it set up the timeline settings automatically. If you are trying to force another setting and then drop your clips on the timeline with another codec, it might give you issues.
Use ProRes, if you set it up manually. Final Cut 7 has ProRes light which takes up less HD space.
You have plenty of machine. I didn’t see how much memory you have. You shouldn’t have any issues.
