Thank you for the response Norman
With Sony titles and text, it seems it I could get two lines OK, it was the third line that kicked line one out of the frame. I even tried a dummy space on the lines but the titler is too smart and it doesn’t fool it into believing it a full line.
So I guess I’ll stick with 3 overlaped events.
    Thanks
    Brad

May 28, 2013 at 12:15 am in reply to: Mpeg video quality slider???

In the capture window if you select prefs.
I had never seen this before. I only found it because I am weak on logging footage, I usually am lazy and do it on the fly. So i read the manual on batch capturing. The slider is there and defaults to a value of 25????? I maxed the slider today and it goes up to a value of 31??
I am not sure if it has any effect. This is made more confusing as I’m not to happy with the footage I shot… 🙁

I would guess this would work.
    https://www.motu.com/video-products/v4hd/features/audio-io.html
or Protools with an Avid Mojo. But the common solution is to use a common clock, record video on the recorder of your choice, and multitrack the audio on the DAW of your choice.
A lot of people use portable had held 4 track recorders, but they do drift sync wise.

I am a professional recording engineer with many years experience.
I don’t think I would try this. You big problem is going to be clock reference. You would need a common clock for both devices. The simplest solution would be to take video out from your camera, feed that to a work clock generator that will take the video in and spit out word clock. Clock you onxy to that clock, ( I believe it might clock to a spdif in) The Mackie Onyx comes with basic recording software, use that with a laptop, record your video to tape, then line up your video and audio files in Vegas. It not as complicated as it sounds. That is what I would. You could record the audio wild but it will drift a little.

    1) check location of playhead in time line. When adding generated media the playhead will jump to the end of the event. You want it during the event. Also be sure video track is top track in timeline or other video will block it.

May 10, 2013 at 9:46 pm in reply to: ISDN and Vegas and live broadcast

My studio has ISDN. These days it is very rarely needed. Monitoring the session via nicecast or skype then ftp-ing the files cover all but the most demanding clients due to it’s high cost. Protools really has nothing to do with ISDN., they are separate devices that can or may not be used together.

I bought an elitebook with win7 pro recently from tiger direct. As Stephen said it has every kind of port including firewire. I’m very happy with it. Not the most beautiful screen though but it’s ok.
