    Hello all
Please tell me the MPEG video quality slider does nothing when capturing HDV footage via firewire in Vegas pro 12. I had always assumed that Vegas was just capturing a raw stream via firewire and not altering the quality in any way.
    Anybody know for sure?
    Thanks

Where are you seeing a “video quality” slider? The only one I am aware of is in the “Render As” modify template options.

Capture is just a bit-for-bit copy of the data on your HDV tape.

In the capture window if you select prefs.
I had never seen this before. I only found it because I am weak on logging footage, I usually am lazy and do it on the fly. So i read the manual on batch capturing. The slider is there and defaults to a value of 25????? I maxed the slider today and it goes up to a value of 31??
I am not sure if it has any effect. This is made more confusing as I’m not to happy with the footage I shot… 🙁
