    My research shows me that Cineform has created an excellent product. And honestly, I think the price is fair for what it offers. But I simply cannot afford it.
    According to what I have read, I will need very little drive space to handle the 2k files since I will recieve them already encoded into the cineform codec. I’m expecting to get away with a RAID 0 array which comes free on my motherboard. I just need a couple of 200-300GB drives. Those are under $100 each now.

    Do you think that a traditional transfer, where the image is tweaked before it is laid down to tape would be any better than this flat film scan? (Perhaps all digital intermediate scans are done flat like this.) In your opinion, if you were doing your own 16mm film, would you consider this process as a future proofed and archival copy of your film?
