The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

Its likely not the FW section at all.
Could be something in the analog audio section of the electronics.

Look thru the set-up menu to make sure all the settings are “normal.”

Try to “reset” the deck.
Look for a reset button or setting in the menu.
And/or unplug the AC power to the deck for at least 30 minutes.

You have some serious problems, here.

For starters, in digital, a full pan to either channel should have zero “cross-talk” (bleed) to the opposite channel.

I’m suspecting the deck at this point.

You’v e done everything just right as far as your testing.

But try the test again, only THIS time, disconnect the deck from the FW and, instead,
hook the Mac/FCP to a DV CAMCORDER set in VTR mode.

After re-starting FCP with the camcorder turned on and connected (to establish a good FW link), plug in the headphones to the camcorder and try your tests again.

High-power amplifers are not small.

There are many small amplifiers, but not to power large speakers.

And, are you saying you want the USB (or other) port on the MAC to power the amplifer and speakers?
Not gonna happen.

You COULD, however use large powered speakers (some can be battery-powered).
There are plenty on the market.
Most are used as portable “hotel ballroom” PA systems.

Click on (highlight) any clip on the timeline, type in a number (+ or -) and hit “return/enter”.

The clip will move the number of frames typed-in.

The limitation is that the clip cannot be butted up against another clip or it won’t move with this method..

You should have several frames of “clearance” between the clips until you get the sync corrected.

I can build all kinds of transitions and save them as “favorites” for nearly “instant use” in FCP,
There must be scores of third-party Plug-ins available, as well.

Many editing pros don ‘t need to view a preview of a familiar effect during the assembly process,
The work-flow can be to quickly cut together the scenes, drop on familiar transitions, render (if necessary) and take a look.

Its the nature of most pro, however, to tweak (miro-tweak?) nearly EVERYTHING once a project is rough-cut.

Having ONLY “preset” effects can be quite frustrating.
The small details of careful adjustment can make a difference in the “cheese-level.”

BTW, to state that iMoive is “HORRIBLE” is a mistake. It is, in fact, AMAZING!

I’m sure many of us here could cut a very respectable project or two using only iMovie.
I’ve certainly cut shows on far LESS systems than that over the years!

That’s not going to improve.

The DV output to the Pioneer should be full quality.

But to answer your question, just Export using QT Conversion (do not click the box that says “Make moive self-contained.”)

Then just drop that Exportedn ew file into iDVD or other DVD burning software.

IMHO, there is never a time to seriously consider using the “native” FCP text generators.

I always use the included Title3D or TitleCrawl (or even text generated in Phoptoshop.)

What do you mean by “work with”?

All mixers will work with most audio sources in an edit bay.

Or are you looking for a digital control surface to actually operate the software?
