I think anyone would be hard-pressed to find a better value in a truly professional camcorder.

$ 6,449.00If your budget is less, (and many others are in that same situation) then you will lose nearly all of those features, and drop below most of the basic criteria you listed in your post.
But, I’m sure others have their favorite choices in a less-costly camcorder.

Select (highlight) all of your dialogue tracks on the Timeline.
Modify (menu) > “Stereo Pair” (Turn off)
If you only want to use one of the two channels, delete
the tracks you don’t want.Then,
Modify (menu) > Audio> “Pan Center”

What would YOU do under these same circumstances.
Its not really an “hourly” vs. “day-rate” situation.
Do you dump the pre-arranged one-day to do the two-day?

You might want to move the selected area a tiny amount up or down, then re-render.
If that doesn’t help, select a slightly LARGER area to cover and re-render.If all else fails, you might want to trash your FCP Preferences (use FCP Rescue See below) then open the project and re-render.
A great way to trash FCP Preferences is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

The Sony mic supplied with PD 150 and PD170 does require phantom power.

Virtually all edit software will allow you to capture, split, or combine the two channels in the edit, with independent control over each channel. -
This is going to be a long laborious task.
The audio cassettes will never hold sync with the video for more than a few seconds at a time.
Every time the sync gets “bad enough to notice,” you will need to add a cut in the audio track and slide that audio back into sync with the image.
Depending on how long the clips are, and how many you have to repair, this process could take anywhere from several hours, up to several days to complete.
