I’m HIGHLY interested in anyones findings!
Currently toying around with blueTooth transmission of LTC.
Now a latency is no problem at all,
AS LONG AS IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME.
(if so, it’s very easy to compensate for that.)Can someone confirm or deny that the latency is always the same?

Just for the records.
The (internet) compan i’ve bought the M-audio from (and got it returned) just called.
They tested it and came to the same findings as i did.
They have had contact with M-audio (something mortals have trouble to acomplish), and sending the unit back to them to get it fixed.I’m really interested in the outcome!

(I must admit that i have forgotten on how it actually works, but there is a manual and a free demo.)
However, if it’s not too much footage, you could always have FCP recapture.

Since i’m probably the biggest TC / sync geek around here…
5D is indeed 25 only.
However, my FCPauxTC reader does not care about the actual framerate.
It will happily paste in a 29.97 TC track in a 50 fps movie, and FCP will happily display / sync on it.
So that’s not the issue.If there is indeed LTC, it can be fixed with my FCPauxTC reader.
If for some reason there is an offset (cam ran at free run with no reference), i have a tool that can batch shift all tc’s, so you only have to find one common sync point.
That however is not on my site, but available if you contact me direct.

True, (sadly), but keep in mind that FCP does not really care for Reelnames.
So you can always add / change a reelname during the edit, FCP won’t mind.
You can do so inside FCP, but also behind it’s back.
(my QTchange is good for that)However, i’m so lucky i don’t deal with these kind of problems in my shop, i just like to know how things work…

No idea, the renaming FCO does is still a bit of a mystery to me.
(especially if a clip is used multiple times)

Thanks all.
I’ve tried two other similar units from other brands.
One (i already forgot the name) had the same issues.I’ve now bought a Steinberg CI 2.
It has better output leves, and a gain know that behaves in a nice human linear way. (turn the knob half down and the volume is half 🙂80 bucks more expensive while it has only 2 channels instead of four, but it comes with Cubase, and does what i need it to do.
Most important lesson here:
Do NOT buy this kind of gear on the internet just based on specs and reviews.
Go to a VAR, toy with the actual products and then decide what to buy. And buy from the VAR to keep him alive!
(I could get the same unit 50 bucks cheaper on the internet, but my VAR helped me, we’ve toyed for over an hour with the stuff, well worth the price.)Bouke

Oops, my bad (It’s terribly early here and i did not have had coffee)
No idea if it could work with EX. I don’t know the file structure, nor the XML / directory structure.
I can test if you like, but i don’t think there is a need.
FCP’s relinking works on Clip Name. That HAS to match.
If so, FCP starts looking if there is TC it can work with.
If so, it uses the TC for correct in / out.
If not, it uses the relative offset (in frames) based on the original.
(Most of the cases this will not work with video, but it is a nice feature if you want to relink to a fresh altered AE render or something.)So in your case it’s the naming. Now renaming is dangerous, as you end up with double filenames, and you might end up with wrong relinks.
So if you can alter the names in the export list, and alter the filenames to match, you should be good.
You could use my FCP relink app, but if it’s multicam, it’s probably a few long takes so doing it manually will not take too much time.hth,

But Shane, yes, you do need a matching Reel number. Otherwise there is no way to tell what goes where.
However, sloppy naming (like Reel01 vs reel_01) can be fixed using QTchange (free).
It’s also not too hard to rename the reel on a lot of clips inside FCP, but i never did it myself.
