And there is logic to that.
The higher the shutter time, the shorter the exposure is.
That results in less motion blur, causing the effect.
It is however a trick very much used if you know for sure you need slomo, as in slomo you are able to see the action instead of a blurry mess (that looks good at normal speed)

So, just toy with it, and see if you like the results.
There is no good or bad, just taste.

Find a piece of fast movement and have a look at the cadence.
If it is 4 frames progressive followed by one frame interlaced, it’s PA. If not, it’s P.

If it’s only logging, why not add a few (dummy) tracks to the proxy clips?
Then attributes will match again, and your worries are over.
Applescript to duplicate the soundtrack and paste back in, and you’re done…

Lovely.
Then it’s a 4 colored bitmap.
Meaning, one color transparant, one color title, one color outline, one color anti-alias.

This is for DVD, not for video. Quality will suck.

If the guy who supplied it can do this, he can also crank out another format.

Check out Subbits (it’s on my site)
It eats a variety of formats, and spits out either text based XML (to drive a text generator) or bitmap based XML (to connect to rendered PNG files, 24 bit with alpha. The render engine that comes with Subbits creates those.)

If it’s a one-off, contact me if you got a ‘normal’ file, and we’ll work something out.

Of course, there is no Reel info, thus it does not match.

That would have made no difference. FCP looks just at the frame offset from the original QT. TC is left out completely.

Perhaps it’s time to walk another route.
(I’ve done substantial testing on how FCP relinks, but never clips longer than an hour.)

Two things to test:

1) REMOVE the TC track from the clip. This will force FCP to relink zero (frame, ctl style) based.

2) Split up the file in two files. First hour worked.
So copy out the last half hour and put it in a fresh clip.
I’ve got a hunch that will force FCP to look at the hours as well.

3) If all fails, have FCPreconnect (download from my site) make new master clips for you. I’m not sure if that works with a tremendous amount of clips from the same source, but that can be tested and worked out. (Contact me offlist if you like)

Check the STL and see if the tiff filenames match.
If not, do a search/replace to make them matching.

Also, make sure the STL lives in the same directory as the tiffs.
