You have set the checkbox to imort sequential frames.
(Or whatever it is called, not behind my avid).
So now you got a movie of just one frame.

Deselect it, and you’ll be fine.

well, my mixer (panny) can output the matte generated by the chroma key as well as a keyed and source signal.
(all outputs are routable)
So if you tape the source and the matte on two decks, you can generate QT with alpha afterwards.

If it is uncompressed sound, it probably is salvageble.
(if there is data)
You can use a HEX editor to create a new file header, but Audacity might be able to do it for you, if you tell it to read raw input.
If the sound is compressed, i have no idea.

well, both apps are cross platform.
So use the Transcriber Windows version, and the ‘maketranscriberfiles’ on mac.
(or, use QT if you also want video during the transcribing)

well, what is the ‘old fashioned way’?

Most transcribers use dedicated software, so they can insert timecode into the document with just one keystroke (rather than having to type the entire string), perhaps combined with a macro.
(jump to the next / previous field in a spreadsheet)

To top it off, they have footpedals so they don’t need to get their fingers off the keyboard, let alone touch the mouse.
(that takes way too much time)

Now the transcribing software needs to know the timecode for the file.
Thus, that must be entered manually at the start of the file, or must be inside the file ‘somewhere’
Inside means either QT with a TC track, BWF (can be uncompressed or compressed), Mp3 (with the user data for artist set to TC) or other formats.

My transcriber app. likes them, and there will be others as well.
Check with your transcriber if they can handle them.

What i think Jeremy means, capture the common house timecode in FCP.
This is an audio signal.
If you put it on the timeline, and have ProTools listen to that, it should slave.

Your questions is a bit strange, you ask for ‘digital timecode output’.
That is probably MIDI timecode.
In a video setup, LTC is mostly used. It is a digital signal, as it are 0’s and 1’s, but they travel as a normal sound signal.
(Used to be balanced over XLR / audio cables, nowadays the connectors are mostly BNC with video cables (unbalanced), but the signal is the same.

Another way to output LTC is to use this:

It can create LTC based on QT TC and paste it in a movie, or create a new BWF file that can be synced to the clips.
I can get you an XML tool that creates merged clips as well…

1 terrabyte quality disk sets you back 90 USD or less.
So what are you complaining about?
Do you do this for a living or for a hobby?

(and yes, over here 1 terrabyte in protected shared raid is 20 times as expensive, but you don’t hear me complaining…)
