a bit obvious, but before blaming the digi, did you look at the output of the deck or just at the digitized footage?

For this you can use my application “easysub”

the trick is to scale it vertically and reposition to a “correct” framing.
If you have to render or not depends on your system.Enhancing is not the word, as you will loose resolution and the original framing…

Actually, i have made a quite nice script editor that also exports for Encore.
What you do is import a qt ref file (or Mpeg) and have full control over it while entering your titles.
It gives feedback about suggested reading time and gives an instant preview.
You also have a timeline where you can trim your in/outpoints if needed.Mail me if you want a demo copy.

Although i don’t disagree with Mr. San very often (long time no see btw!), the original question was about open titles.
At the moment i’m working on a subtitle application that has (among a zillion other features) FCP XML support, it comes with an enhanced text generator that has a border and shadow if you like.

I dunno if re-importing with different settings will save you, but anyways:
It is very well possible to replace the clips. Select them in the bin, go the hamburger and select batch import. De-select “offline only” and tell it to use “force current settings”, which, of course, have to be the settings you want to try out.

If your PT set accepts qt, perhaps you could just install the board and software and have the video out locked to your PT session.
But i suspect there will be some conflicts…
If you have the space, just use the M100 as a player and lock the PT onto that.
If you record LTC (it’s just an a audio signal) with the video and input that in your PT set it’ll lock onto the image, or have a prefab LTC file ready to put under the video…Dunno if it’s practical. Most people use DV streams on the same machines with PT…

check the tc head, they sometimes get dirty and mess things up.
Try listening to the tc out signal, it should be bright.
