Or, set preroll to CTL. Or, capture with LTC and let the avid sort out the mess later on (forgot if it chops the clips or not, perhaps you should subclip afterwards)

Never saw this happen on my setups, but is it possible that the tape names are not correct?
As for your example with the interview, in the original sequence, can you confirm that the TC’s of both video and audio are the same? If not, the offline guy screwed up naming the tapes…

From my limited knowledge, if you import the original clip in AE and use ‘interpret footage’, set it to non-interlaced and interpret as 24 fps, your duration should change and everything ‘should’ be right…
Can’t you just capture a little bit the way you wanted it in the first place and compare?

If you don’t want the end user to be able to turn them off, definitly put them as open captions (thus, render them in the video)

Dunno if premiere has something build in, but otherwise there is always VideoMacro.
What it does is just sending keystrokes to any application, just like you would do yourself.
So if you want to perform a series of actions, just write down the keys you like to do and make enter them in the macro app. Set it to a specific amount of loops or infinity…You can also set a pause (some actions take time for Premiere to perform…)
If things seem to freeze, just hit ctrl alt delete (no need to force quit..) to free the system from the keys sent too fast and try again with more pauses.

The free demo version will allow you to do all your work, but you can’t save your custom actions.

There is no way that i can think off.
Put the TGA files per shot in a folder named the Framenumber (you can set avid to the framenum)
If the graphics guys do not start on the first frame, let them name the clips with something meaningfull AND the frame they started. Still not foolproof, but it’s something.Bouke

Personally i would add an Avid 101 course to the mix.
If that makes a too big price difference, go with XpressPro.
You’ll benefit more from a good course than from the extended funtionality in MC.Bouke

Reelnames ‘should’ translate good if you keep the names simple, if you can use only UPPERCASE and or numbers. No spaces, no funny chars, and keep them short (max 8 characters if you use CMX 3600)
Next, if you need to be compatible with FCP and/or AVID, do yourself a favour and switch.
FCP is like 1K, AVID MC is 4.7K, Avid XpressPro is 1.8?Dunno how big your contracts are, but i hope you should be able to write off a XpressPro copy on this project only. (Assuming you don’t have a Mac and want to stick to PC…)
It makes no sense to keep on swimming agains the stream. Just go with the flow…

Besides this very usefull info, bear in mind that in fact Premiere always was good in EDL’s and that AVID seems to have forgotten how they started (only EDL’s for output…)
Again, keep it simple.
And if you want to avoid a lot of unneeded redigging, make an ALE of your decomposed imported sequences and use ALE cleaner to work on that.Download from http://www.videoToolShed.com
