  • Exporting Timeline as Targa-Sequences without losing TC reference?

Posted by Sebastian Riezler on February 8, 2007 at 9:15 pm

    hi all,

we shot a 40min show on HDCAM. we downconverted all tapes to DigiBeta because our NLE (Avid MC 1000x V12.x) just handles SD footage.
problem is, most of the footage is greenscreen and the graphic department wants all shot to be keyed at HD resolution.
So we made a EDL (CMX 3600 Type C) and batched all the shots in HD. Then I exported all the seperate shots as Targa-Sequences to seperate folders.

Here’s the question: how can I export the seperate shots for the graphic guys without losing my timecode reference to my timeline(s)?

Do i really have to cut all the (about 350) edits by hand? is there no way to keep them ‘connected’ to my avid?

never had this kind of ‘workflow’ (at the moment there is no flow…) before, so any help would be apreciated.

    thanks in advance
    riot

There is no way that i can think off.
Put the TGA files per shot in a folder named the Framenumber (you can set avid to the framenum)
If the graphics guys do not start on the first frame, let them name the clips with something meaningfull AND the frame they started. Still not foolproof, but it’s something.
