I can only say that my way of making DVD´s is working great.
I use premiere cs3,2. Now I record only progressive, since interlaced never looks great on a modern flatscreen. I start a project that fits the EX files. Like 720 P25 – thats the format I record in.
I export the files as a Matrox DVCam progressive file – I have the matrox codec installed on that machine. I move the file to another machine on which I have the Vista 64bit ultimate system. Then I use its own burner program to make the DVD – it never failed burning a stunning DVD.
Played on my Sony Blu-ray, that upconverts too HD on my Sony Bravia – it almost looks as a HD movie.
I am not sure I could see the difference. -
I guess it has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of the memorycards or the raidchips or the rest of the hardware. It is like the Music CD’s – as long as we will pay that big amount for a P2 card – it will be the price. In the music industri it happend when the CD’s came out – in the beginning they were more expensive, than the old LP’s – because of the production cost’s .
When the productioncost dropped to almost nothing – the prices stayed up because people were ready to pay the price. Guess the only thing that could make the price drop, is the SxS camera ability to use HC-SD memorycards – that would make the SxS cameraes a cheaper solution and give panasonic a real competition. And maybe their own HD-SD cameraes….We just need Sony to produce a broadcast camera with SxS cards… -

I use premiere CS3,2 to downconvert – Import the EX3 files in an XDcam EX project and export them to Microsoft avi files. Open a DV wide project and import the converted files – now you can export via firewire to your deck. This way your HD recordings looks great. -
Hi
Yes – it should be mono – but is there an easy effect for that ? I unlink the video and audio of a clip in the timeline. Then copy the audio to another audio track (in sync) and put a “fill right” effect (from audio effect Stereo)on the one audio clip and a “fill left” on the other – and then link again….

Hi
Check the under water – over land forum https://www.dvinfo.net//conf/forumdisplay.php?f=111 where we have discussed the EX3 for wildlife…
And the great nikon adapter for EX3 -
Yes – I have had different firestores also the FS 100 – only had problems with it – forget about anything else but the P2 cards. They are not that expenseive anymore and very reliable.

Yes – wonder why Sony does not put more info on their web about accesories. I had to search a long time – first to find the adapter and then to find a picture, that showed the 12 pin connector, on the side of the connector. Next problem was to find a supplier which i found in Germany.

Fujinons adapter converts the internal lens pins to a standard 12 pin for external lens – look here: https://www.abelcine.com/store/product.php?productid=1001137

Hi
I have the same problem – I can mute the the voice over track while making voiceovers.
But if you make a mistake and want to play the track right up to a new “in” point – then you have muted the track and can hear nothing. Great if Adobe could mute the recording but not the playback of the track.
