How do I best downconvert from EX-3 to DV Tape?
I orderd the EX-3 which I’ll be getting in about a week and only just started thinking of questions that maybe I should have asked before I placed an order for the camera.. Maybe I should have bought the Z7.
But anyway here goes.
My client wants his footage on tape in DV mode. I have the Sony DSR-25 recorder with Firewire and S-Video inputs.
I -USED- to give my client footage from my DSR-450 Camera which is native DS DVCAM in DVSP mode.
Now I’m going to use the EX-3 and continue to supply footage on a DV tape using my DSR-25 to record.
1) Which mode should I shoot on with the EX-3 to best downconvert?
2) Since I can only use the S-Video input on my DSR-25, is the downconvert from EX-3 to SD DV Tape going to look like crap?
(Can’t go firewire from EX-3 to DV right?)If the downconvert looks crap, what other options do I have -other- than possibly component out/SDI out of the EX-3. ( I don’ thave component or SDI facilities) I am using Sony Vegas 8.0c if that’s of any use.
3) How does footage downconverted from EX-3 to DSR-25 via S-Video, look like compared to native DV Footage from my old DSR-450 camcorder, that my client is used to watching?
Surely the DSR-450 footage should be better, but do you think it’s going to be a LOT better or not really noticable on a normal SD monitor?
