Glad you mentioned Boris FX transitions for Adobe Premiere. Both Boris FX 10 (least expensive option) and Boris RED 5.2 work as true single track transitions in Adobe Premiere.

Since Premiere does not allow native parameters for transitions, our custom UI becomes necessary. To ease the learning curve, you can use the Browser mode where you can choose a preset and go right back to Premiere to render.

Since no other user chimed in, let me comment from our perspective. First, Vista 64 is very old and not very stable OS. To run a Vegas rig, I’d recommend an i7 PC with a modern graphics card, Win 7 or 8 OS, Vegas 11 or 12 and Boris RED 5.2. That should work pretty well for you.

More memory will definitely speed up rendering, especially if you are using a 64 bit version of Premiere (the last two releases). CUDA-capable card will speed up Mercury engine in Premiere. In addition, all GPU-accelerated filters included with RED 5, such as Lens Flare, will benefit from a beefy graphics card of any brand. We recommend latest cards with more on-card memory.

Hi Neil,

You may have to contact tech support on this one. Your software version maybe outdated and not match new system fonts. We’ll need to know RED version number, OS, Avid version number, etc. Extra bonus if you can save RED project and send it to us. Hope this helps.

Can you tell what transitions? I know library structure has been changed recently, some presets re-arranged or removed as obsolete.

Fron the sound of it, you may haver been given an outdated or incompatible installer. Always download the latest one from here:

I’m glad you liked the Flicker Fixer demo. It’s an amazing technology. I can assure you that this filter is a strong candidate for inclusion in the next major release of Boris RED but at the moment it is only available as part of BCC 8 or in BCC Image Restoration Unit.
