I’m glad to see that you consider 3D extruded text important. We too are very proud of this feature in the package. These 5 filters are available in 64 bit on Windows and in 32 bit on Windows and on Mac. The only place where they are still missing is the 64 bit Mac – by far the most challenging platform for any software featuring it’s own UI . The good news is that it is being actively worked on and a free update for all BCC7 users is planned for Q3. As soon as it’s available we will notify everyone via a newsletter to which you can subscribe on our web site. I’l post to this forum too. We will make sure this temporary omission is more obvious on our web site.

In the meantime, as a temporary workaround, customers who upgrade from 32 bit versions of AE and BCC can use the old host/plugin combo to render 3D text and import as an alpha movie in new projects. I’m not saying that it’s ideal but it’s a possible workaround in some situations. Again, we are working hard on rectifying this limitation on the Mac.

  • Sorry to take forever to respond to this one. Yes, NAB, no vacation, yes Adobe CS5 support work…

I confirmed your sphere/cylinder preset problem in Snow Leopard. Sorry about that. We will release an update in the near future. In the meantime as a workaround I can offer to try a 3D Model container feature. That works as expected. It can host any primitive shapes such as spheres and cylinders. Just add a Container, switch mode to 3D Model and insert needed shapes. There are timeline shortcut buttons for all these actions for your convenience.

    Again, sorry for trouble.

We reproduced a problem with two graphics cards. It only affects the 13 filters in BCS (shaders) categories. We will be posting an update shortly. Possible workarounds in the meantime: use non-OGL versions of these filters, such as BCC Chromakey, Film Process, Light Rays, Glow, etc. Or pull the second card out (perhaps not the best workaround).

    Hi Ryan,

Without seeing the image it’s hard to say what’s going on. Perhaps if you could send a still frame of the source and result to support@borisfx.com we could help you further. Sorry I do not have a cookie-cutter answer in this case.

Yes, I forgot that FCP does not offer an About button which makes it a little harder to figure out exact version of a plugin. Anyway, if you still have the original downloaded dmg does the package name say

BCC 6.0.7.1 FxPlug Release .mpkg ?

If not can you download it again?

in any case, just send the .fcp file

OK, let’s approach this problem differently. First, make sure that BCS filters version is 6.071 (a small update from 6.07). Second, send our support team a FCP project (no media needed). support@borisfx.com. We’ll try to re-create the problem.

P.S. we can extend the trial period via a special cleaner file

Please accept my apologies for not responding earlier to this post. I was bound by NDA with Apple and I could not talk publicly about the progress on fixing this bug. The good news is that the crashes that you are experiencing are now fixed in the Final Cut Pro v7.02 which went live as part of FCS update today.

The crashes in Final Cut that you are experienced are fixed in FCP 7.02. Run software updated on it. I think it just went live today. Sorry for inconvenience but there was nothing we could do about the problem. The good news is that it should be fixed now.

March 14, 2010 at 2:37 pm in reply to: Extruded EPS in After Effects is changing fonts

    Zac,

To lock in a font try to convert your EPS to outlines in Illustrator (if if you have Illustrator and willing to do that). Also, make sure that the desired font is installed on your system and works in AE itself. What kind of font is it?

If you are seeing letters dropping out, I suspect the type may be too small for extrusion. Again, in Illustrator, if possible, increase the font size or make it bold. Some curves are hard to extrude if they are too tight or tiny.

Let me know if this helps,
