So let me get this straight – you can afford editing systems, RAID arrays, an LTO drive (which as you know costs thousands of dollars) a disk drive host card to run the LTO (perhaps you have an MLogic MTape with is a thunderbolt LTO that also costs thousands of dollars), and you will pay about $60 per tape, but you want FREE LTO software ?Well Rachael – you will get what you pay for. No one will help you.I don’t understand that you have thousands of dollars for the hardware to operate an LTO tape backup system, and it’s killing you (or your employer) to spend $500 for a wonderful piece of software from Tolis Group, YoYotta or Imagine Products that will work perfectly, and give you someone to ask questions, if it doesn’t work.
There ain’t no free lunch Rachael ! By the way, if I help you with this for free, would you edit a show for me for free ?

I am also rambling horribly off topic, but you hit a sensitive note in your description. You are working with a health care company that is scouring the internet for complaints. And you are bitching about Tolis wanting to charge for support.
I pay $22,000 a year for health care from Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield (Florida Blue) and they do everything they can to try to not reimburse me, and not cover me, even though I feel I am paying them an insane amount of money for my Wife and myself. So to pay $500 bucks, and expect free support forever – well, you tell ME how much you pay for your medical insurance. 500 bucks ?Perhaps if ALL OF US didn’t have to pay exhorbitant fees for our medical insurance, “we” would be more generous with you. Tell your health care client that the reason you are being charged ransomware, is because of THEM !

I am happy to have an ending to this story.
The landlord and myself have decided to have a class action suit against Simon Ubsdell. Simon has presented unsupported facts against our elevator, which, in our “professional opinion” works perfectly well. We have installed elevators in countless buildings around the world, and now Simon Ubsdell has decided to defame our good name and reputation. Well guess what MR UBSDELL – you are GOING DOWN. You will never work again in this industry again ! Your only job in the future will be to work in Sento houses, handing out towels (ok, my back needs scrubbing – get to work !).Welcome to 2018, Mr. Ubsdell. I have discovered at least two MAJOR issues (that involve “third party” manufacturers) with the iMac Pro and macOS 10.13.2. Would you like to join me in publically trashing Apple, and prepare for the wrath of a major manufacturer screwing their customers. So when it comes time to trashing your “elevator manufacturer” – why don’t you prepare for your slander lawsuit for deformation of character.

Just wait until you update to 10.13.2. Just wait until you need Apple hardware support on your 5,1.
Do you edit or do graphics with Adobe products ? Is this free every month, or are you still on CS5 ?
Wait until you put your NVidia Titan GPU into a thunderbolt expansion chassis, and expect it to work on a new Mac.

you need 600 TB to archive.
600 divided by 10 is 60.
Please go to google or Amazon, and look at the price of a 10 TB SATA drive – not a RAID system, or backup system, or NAS or cloud site. Just a bare cheap as you can find 10 TB drive. Now multiply that by 60.You state about that your budget is $10,000. You tell me. Can you afford to do this ?

no – just buy them from one dealer all at one time. You will have no issues. The WD and HGST drives are made in the same factory in Thailand. You will be fine. These are very very reliable drives. But buy a spare drive anyway, just in case.

I have a great idea. What a wonderful time to blow away everything, reinstall your Mac OS, put on the essential editing and graphics software you need, and don’t use this computer for games at all. Then you will have a wonderful, fast editing/graphics computer with no bloatware in it.

nothing is going to be cheaper than getting a Chinese NAS box like a QNAP or Synology. I often install QNAP systems, and (without drives) they are under $3000. Add 8 SATA drives (all the same size) and you will have a system that can hold all your media, and even though you don’t care about sharing the media, you can share the media between your different editors (both Mac and PC’s can connect). This will cost less than a dedicated Promise R8 Thunderbolt array.
That’s the least expensive way to go. I suggest looking at a QNAP TS-1685 or TVS-1282T
