I do not have a solution for the mini converters that you own. Perhaps the Kramer will work – certainly a custom generic 12VDC power supply with a custom cable breakout would work.

These are the Blackmagic solutions –
1) buy an OpenGear chassis and the Blackmagic cards that fit into this chassis (Analog to SDI, SDI to Analog, etc.). Then you have a very clean installation. Of course, this costs more money, and of course, you already own the existing converters.

2) use the new (unreleased) Mini Teranex converters. All of these new converters use a normal power cord, and can also be powered from a POE ethernet switch.

1) the GS752TXS is a 1GbE switch, with 10G uplink ports. This means that your Solarflare 10G card (not Fiber card) is connected to the 10G uplink port on the GS752TXS. Unless you are going to ONE computer in the other 10G port on the GS752TXS switch, you can only get 100 MB/sec, not 600 MB/sec.

2) so let’s say that you are plugged into the other 10G port on the GS752TXS switch – and you are getting 600 MB/sec, but getting drop frames. The problem is your project .

While I have never done this with a Dell Server (only with Mac servers), I strongly suggest that you create a NEW project, and playback some isolated single clips in Premier from the client computer, and see if you get the system to lock up.

Why are you running VM Ware for this ? Win 7, Win 8 or Mac OS is all you need.

as a general answer, EVERYTHING must match – the camera HD rate (720 or 1080 – and 1080i, 1080p, 720p), and your frame rates must match –
23.98, or 59.94 (which is the same as 29.97). You cannot “mix and match” frame rates or resolutions.

Try setting everything the same, and your problems should go away.

It also sounds like you are going thru a LOT of converters, yet your audio is going directly in – are you using the HyperDeck Pro with the external XLR input connectors ? All the video conversion that you do, and the Matrix all adds propogation delay. The more junk you stick between the video – if the audio is not delayed the exact same amount – you will have a delay issue.

and in 2017, when the new Mac Pro’s come out, and you now have all these USB-C products, Apple will announce Thunderbolt 4, and everyone will HAVE to shoot in 8k (or at least 6K) because everyone has 4K, and it looks like crap anyway. And at NAB 2018, Sony will show 16k with laser projectors, and your clients will say “what will it take to shoot in 16k”

This reminds me of the old days, where you HAD to have an Ampex ADO ($250,000 for you kids that don’t know what I am talking about). It’s a game – it’s always been a game – and it’s just getting worse, because things change faster. And with all this advancement, and all these new cool programs, when will real time rendering be a reality ? Probably never.

I love the Tricaster and Newtek is a great company. I put a lot of these in as well. But the bottom line is that Blackmagic stuff is cheaper – A LOT CHEAPER – and it’s wildly popular because it’s so cheap. No one has to consider “gee can I afford this” – anyone can afford the Blackmagic gear. And this applies to their scopes, cameras, monitors, routers, multi viewers, standards converters, etc. This does not mean that there are not other great products – products BETTER than Blackmagics (certainly the Newtek Tricaster is a much more powerful product) – but its MORE MONEY – and all the gear from Evertz, Miranda, Grass Valley, Sony, etc. etc. is REALLY a lot more money. And isn’t that what everyone really cares about anyway these days ?
