  • [James Cude] “Doing your own tech support with a Hackintosh sounds like a lot of time wasting for a would-be pro though.”

    “would-be pro”…. huh?

  • I’ve been considering going Hackintosh for a while…. but now I’m pausing to consider; what’s the impact of Apple writing code into FCPX, or the OS, to utilize the GPU’s in the Tube? Unlike traditional MacPros, they no longer need to allow for alternative video cards. So a HackApple at first boot will have a major disadvantage they don’t have today.

    Bernard, your thoughts?

Added benefit – if you get it really cranked up during processing, it should make decent Smoothies, too. Toss a few fruit (apples, too) in the top, do a Send to Compressor, et voila’, creamy delight out the bottom. All unified-like. 😀

(It’s OK Bill, I like FCPX.)

Sorta reminds me of the old SGI O2 desktop.

Unless maybe it’s like those hand towels that expand when you get ’em wet…. HEY PHIL!…. do we dunk it water to turn it into a real workstation?

    I don’t think that’s the real keynote stream…. that’s not Apple lighting… they always have uplights…..

    IT’S A FAKE I TELL YOU!!

It must be some subset of keyframing…. seems incredible they could patent something that existed at least as far back as ADO (Ampex Digital Optics, for you young’uns).

  • [Dennis Radeke] “choice is good for everybody as is the competition between multiple vendors for your attention!”

Bingo. Well said, Dennis. Keep making PPro better and you might switch me off FCPX for the daily breadmaking… 😉

  • [Andy Field] “As for FCP X – even a simple thing as “bluring” in a title doesn’t work correctly – I tried showing someone how to do it (in FCP 7 – you apply the blur transition to a title above a main track of video – voila – no fuss – it blurs In FCP X the blur also blurs the underlying video? Have tried nesting, making connected clips, secondary story lines…doesn’t work. “

Not impossible. More convoluted than it should be, I agree.

Andy Neil gets the props for answering this one first (Cliff notes: open trans in Motion & disable “to” or “from” clip):
