I believe the same is true for FCP and XDCam using Cinemon.

I agree completely that the workflow training is inadequate. I really had to learn it myself by trial and error and with the great help of the people here and the FCP Apple discussions. I bought my EX1r’s through a reputable dealer who provided no basic training either. I had this discussion with my Sony rep and he poo pooed like it wasn’t a problem and pointed me towards the indecipherable Sony web site. They should acknowledge the problem and address it.

Thanks Don. I am interested in making this historic footage available to my researchers in Final Cut Server. I am concerned that someone is going to ask me for it and expect me to do it. I want to be able to say that for 100 hours of DV footage it will cost you such and such and I can have it done for you. I will call some dupe houses in Boston and see what they are charging.

    Thanks for everyone’s suggestions.

Thanks Rafael. I guess what I really mean is that I want them from tape to a computer based format and I don’t want to do them myself. I have a Sony DV deck and multiple DV cameras but I am looking for a service I can pay to transfer them for me.

Did you try hooking the camera to your laptop and trying it that way? It would tell you if the card reader were dead.

I am assuming you don’t have the Express34 slot on your laptop.

Clip browser is up to 2.6. You need to use something other than Safari to download it. I am sure Ian will provide you with the proper link soon.

I have Shotput Pro but have not figured it out yet. Clip Browser works really well.

I agree completely with Ian, Don and Greg. I am recording sometimes six cameras a day worth of XDcam footage. All clips are loaded onto a back-up drive first using the “copy all” function with CRC. It takes quite a bit longer but I have had a couple of occasions where Clip Browser told me there was a problem and prompted me to start again. I did and the problem resolved. I then use the back-up hard drive to do whatever I want with the files. I am using many terabytes worth of hard drives but they are cheap.
