Seems now that my whole system is diseased. App doesn’t work properly anymore and freezes up immediately. I tried uninstalling and re-installing with no success.

FYI, I also tried selecting different file formats (JPG & PNG), different output locations and toggling on/off sending the image directly into my project.

Myself and 2 cams is how I do all my weddings. One static in back…maybe hooked up with an audio feed from the house’s board and myself manning a cam up front rocking wireless mic receivers.
I generally only do weddings for friends and don’t charge a whole lot of money and certainly aren’t interesting in splitting it with anyone.
The key is attending the rehearsal and seeing where the best positions are to set up. Ask tons of questions of the wedding coordinator and participants if possible.

June 14, 2013 at 3:07 pm in reply to: RAID ejecting itself while using Premiere CS6

UPDATE: I am optimistic that my problem was due to a faulty 10′ USB3 cable. I had a 3′ USB3 cable that I have replaced it with (sadly it is too short for my physical setup) and things seem to be working fine. No sporadic disk ejections.

I having this same problem. Just got a new iMac 27″ and have hooked my iStar Raidage Gage (which is housing two 3TB Barracuda 7200rpm drives – mirrored/seen as one 3TB drive) up to it via USB3. Every time I go to render something, the drive is ejected sometime during the render. This never happened when this Raidage unit was connected to my old Mac Pro via eSATA. It doesn’t seem to happen when the iMac is sitting idle, not working in an app. Encoding a file in AME was fine but rendering in AE causes an immediate ejection of the hard disk and rendering in PPro ejected shortly after the render began. It is as if when the drive is being written to, it can’t handle it. I couldn’t even copy a rendered QT from my desktop to the drive via the Finder. ???? 🙁

  • Sounds like you may need some prosumer-grade HD cams with HDMI-out and use a $250 HDMI>SDI mini-converter on the output of each cam. Then, running HD-SDI cabling to the switcher.
I too am in the market for the cheapest HD cams I can find with HD-SDI out as I anticipate my university’s athletics dept wanting to upgrade to HD soon. It seems $3000 is about the bottom in terms of price. I really like my Panasonic HPX170 cams that I have in our campus TV Studio. Got those for about $3300 each. Not sure our athletics dept wants to spend that much though.

  • it is interesting that you ask about applied color effects. this is a problem i have had periodically when using things like colorista and boris red effects.

    Thanks Jaeson.
i did that. it might have helped. not sure. the app still opened the same way but this time i simply clicked in the license key box where the license key was already listed and i just hit enter and the window closed, opening up the rest of the windows and allowing the app to function properly. chances are i am an idiot and that was all i needed to do. =)

I upgraded today on a MacBook Pro and oddly now the app won’t work. It opens but goes straight to the “About” window showing the registration info. All other controls are grayed out and I can’t even close the app without a force-quit. I will say that the “About-Registration” panel was the last thing I had open in my previous version. I was looking at the product ID and unlock code wondering if upgrading would require a new one.

I was running Lion but encountered this issue so afterwards, today I upgraded to Mountain Lion wondering if that had anything to do with it. Sadly, no.

August 15, 2012 at 7:18 pm in reply to: recovering P2 footage?

    UPDATE:

    My footage is fine.
I think I am just a novice w/ Premiere Pro & P2. I have been shooting on P2 for 3 years now and know that FAT32 limitations require the camera to record footage over 4GB into separate files that can be assembled together to form one, continuous clip on an editing timeline. I shoot a lot of 1-2 hour programs on my college campus and I have been editing in Media 100 Suite for a long time and the footage comes into the bin as these separate clips. In PPro, (assuming this was one long recording) all the clips come in as files all named the same as the first clip, with identical, long duration times & timecode. Thus, I see I can just delete all the duplicates. It’s different than what I am used to. I noticed even spanning two P2 cards with a clip, the material from both cards comes in with the same file name as the file where the recording began. Not so in Media 100.

I should have done more inspection of the files’ info.
I guess I just need more experience w/ PPro’s processes and workflow.
