    2) I was shooting outside, actor sitting on a bench in a forest part. 2-3 different days, the sun and the clowds were changing positions, hence the different lighting.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

Ok Theo. Glad to know I am not crazy and that I don’t have faulty vegas.

Just closed it. Too tired to test it now. Will do tomorrow.

    Thanks again.

    aaahhhhmmmm……

I was dragging the “preset” to the right, right on top of the PREVIEW screen. I guess this created the problem. When I dragged it to the Track or the event, it still worked as you said.

    I don’t know if I have 9a. The ABOUT page says 9.0.

    THANK YOU.

WAIT ! This is NOT what I did.

When I do YOUR test, I get the same results like yours ( I think). I can reopen the project, then press “TrackFX” and I see the color correction dialog box, with the settings I previously selected (No FX chain though, maybe because I only have 1 FX).

    What I had said is:
Select Color-Correction from the upper left corner of the screen. Then I loose the settings.

I made the following test now:

I made “Color Correction” by selecting it from the upper left corner of vegas. I know I did it right because I saved the project, closed, reopened it and the corrected colors were there.

Now, these do not go to the “Event Fx”. That chain is still empty. They probably go to the “Track FX”. Because when I press that button, I see the color-correct panel to the upper left corner again. BUT, everything is set to 0 or something. There is no way to go to a previous state. I even deleted (pressed the x button) the FX. The “Track Fx” chain is blank now. But I still see the changed colors. No way to get rid of the effect.

Ok, I just made a test, paying very much attention the the steps:

From upper left corner I made color correction. Save the project (NOT THE PRESET). Closed it, reopened it. The colors are the changed (corrected ones). But the TrackFX and EventFX buttons reveal empty chains. There is no way to go back and undo the colors.

Hope it make sense and you can tell me what I do wrong.

Sorry, forgot to tell you I am a beginner.

    >>>>>
If you open the original color correction fx,
<<<<< Ok, but how do you do this? I did click on that little mark that says "Event FX.." on the video, on the time line. The FX chain was empty. So where is the color correction I had done? >>>>>>
(Open the fx window from the specific event and delete the color correction from the fx queue on the top of the fx window).
<<<<<< I guess this is exactly what I described above. But the chain is empty. >>>>>>>
You can even bring your color correction setting to another event via COPY (the original event) and ‘PASTE ATTRIBUTE’ it onto the new event.
<<<<<<<< How do you do this. By "event" you mean video/picture/audio ?

    Just made another “test”.

The png file has the same colors as the video, when you view it OUTSIDE vegas. But from inside vegas, it looks different. Now, I did not render the video+pic combination, so that I do not know if the rendered project looks good.

Wondering if it has to do with the screen drivers. I had updated them about 2 weeks ago, because I had some weird sound problems (still have them but in less magnitude).

    Eric

    >>>
Could it be that the color correction is happening twice? Meaning that you are applying color correction at the track (or project level), then taking a snap shot and adding it back to the same track (or the project level color correction is hitting it a second time)?
<<< The png image was added on the same track as the video. So what you said might be true. I just did the following test: I created a new track and added the png image there too. Making sure the video and the 2 png images do not overlap at all. The displayed color of the png images are the same, which is different than the video. (Is there a way to go and check or undo the video color correction?). So something else is happening. I am taking a snapshot of the video several frame before the end of the video. This is because at the last frame of the video, the actor appears to have his eyes closed. So I am trying to create a better last impression frame, that will last 2-3 seconds.

To the upper left corner of the Preview Window, I press the small button that says [Save Snapshot to file…]. A dialog box opens up, and there there is an option to save it as jpg or png.
