how to go back to Color Correction?
Posted by Bob Pit on August 19, 2009 at 12:45 pmI have done Color Correction to my video. Saved the project etc. Now, when I open it again, although the colors are corrected, when I open the color correction again, everything is reset to 0. How can I view the settings and maybe revert to how it was originally or slightly different?

August 19, 2009 at 1:15 pmOnly if you saved it as a preset, otherwise it’s going to be memory and guesswork on your part 🙁

August 19, 2009 at 1:33 pmIf you open the original color correction fx, the settings should be there. If you apply a new copy of the color correction fx, everything is set to zero.
And you can always remove the color correction again to bring the event back into its original state (Open the fx window from the specific event and delete the color correction from the fx queue on the top of the fx window).
You can even bring your color correction setting to another event via COPY (the original event) and ‘PASTE ATTRIBUTE’ it onto the new event. -

You’re correct Theo and thanks for giving the right answer.
I have no idea what I was thinking when I posted what I did.
Back to MovieMaker for me for my next multi-track edit 🙂 -

Hi Bob,
Normally the FX should be there, exactly as how you described it. Apparently you deleted the FX before saving the project or something like that…

Yes, an event is a piece of video, audio, graphics or generated media on your timeline. Right click on an event and choose COPY, then righ click on another event and choose PASTE ATTRIBUTES. All the FX from the first event will be copied to the second event. You can even PASTE ATTRIBUTE to multiple events.Theo

August 19, 2009 at 4:33 pmIts strange that the fx chain is empty when you reopen the project. As stated above maybe you forgot to apply it to the event. Or maybe the answer lies in what you mean when you said that you “Saved the project etc“

August 19, 2009 at 7:59 pmI made the following test now:
I made “Color Correction” by selecting it from the upper left corner of vegas. I know I did it right because I saved the project, closed, reopened it and the corrected colors were there.
Now, these do not go to the “Event Fx”. That chain is still empty. They probably go to the “Track FX”. Because when I press that button, I see the color-correct panel to the upper left corner again. BUT, everything is set to 0 or something. There is no way to go to a previous state. I even deleted (pressed the x button) the FX. The “Track Fx” chain is blank now. But I still see the changed colors. No way to get rid of the effect.
Ok, I just made a test, paying very much attention the the steps:
From upper left corner I made color correction. Save the project (NOT THE PRESET). Closed it, reopened it. The colors are the changed (corrected ones). But the TrackFX and EventFX buttons reveal empty chains. There is no way to go back and undo the colors.
Hope it make sense and you can tell me what I do wrong.

August 19, 2009 at 9:06 pmOK, I did exactly what you did: I added the color correction as track FX. Saved the project. Closed the project, reopened it. The colors were still changed. And the track FX button still contained the effect which I could adapt.
I am working with Vegas 8.0c. Which version are you working with?
