Did you turn down the sharpening, as recommended by technicolor? That may exacerbate the moire. As far as I can tell the aliasing in cinestyle is the same as always: terrible. These cameras have awful aliasing problems, especially in deep focus wide angle shots. It amazes me that people tend to understate how bad it is. It is especially bad in 720p.

Thanks for responding, Michael. I found that the metering was indeed working (when I half pressed the shutter, as you suggest) when the camera was in manual mode, as opposed to my usual custom setting. I re-registered the custom setting and now it’s working.
Thank you!

From what I understand, the Ultimate has built in backfocus adjustment. Other than that I don’t believe there is any advantage. Adapters can be klugy and awkward but there’s no question you can get good results. I’d recommend sticking with primes, preferably even wider than 2.8, since the whole point is shallow focus.

I’ve been using a Letus for years now on my EX1 with no problems. Maybe the ex3’s mics are more sensitive to vibration than the ex1. Did you try isolating the mic a bit?

They are using 2 Epics for stereoscopic – one that passes through a mirror, necessitating an exposure compensation.

Thank you Charlie for posting back, that’s good to know. I may try some different adapters and see if I have better luck.

Interesting. Is the image you’re getting HD?

I have a 7D and the TV Logic, and tried using it with the DVI adapter. I get an image but it’s very crappy low res. Maybe there’s a menu setting in there that’s wrong but I don’t think so. I’m intrigued that others are having success with this monitor with Canons. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Dave,
I really appreciate your input. I checked the dvd playing on a CRT TV. I’ve gone back and rechecked and it turns out that the prores derived mpegs are significantly better than the HDV ones, but still not as good as I’ve been used to seeing lately.Everything I do I try to stay progressive, which I think helps alot.

I’ve already finished the editing, unfortunately. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
