    Hey Everybody,
I’m wondering if it’s possible to use the 7D’s meter while using Nikon manual lenses. It doesn’t work for me, and wanted to check here in case I have something set wrong. If not, how are folks judging exposure? The only way I can figure is to shoot a still and then check the histogram.

    Thanks!

I noticed that at first the metering is not active but if you press and hold the shutter button half way it will activate the meter, and you can adjust accordingly from there.

Let me know if that worked,
    Michal

Thanks for responding, Michael. I found that the metering was indeed working (when I half pressed the shutter, as you suggest) when the camera was in manual mode, as opposed to my usual custom setting. I re-registered the custom setting and now it’s working.
    Thank you!
