Marshal makes a good field monitor with Anton Bauer battery mount.

Hi Errol, Thanks for posting. I have never been impressed with Marshall Monitors. The main reason being, that I cannot seem to find a 7″ Marshall that has HD resolution… they are all 800×480. But I may have found my answer… see my next post!

    Thanks!

    SOLUTION!

While looking again at the Flanders site, I found that they sell a Mini-HDMI to DVI cable to connect the 7D directly to the LM-0750W through the DVI Port. Brilliant! (no power supplies for an HDMI to HD/SDI converter!)I had not considered a DVI conversion but this seems to be the answer. And I still get HD/SDI for my other cams. Very nice. Anyone see a problem with this?

    Thanks FSI!

    Richard,
If you end up getting the FSI I’d love to hear what you think of it. I’ve had my eye on it for a while buy can’t find any reviews.

Richard, did you end up going with the Flanders and the DVI -HDMI cable? would like to hear what you think. Also, Marshall makes a monitor (the V-LCD651stx-HDMI-PM) that is 1024×768 but it’s only 6.5″
    isn’t the Flanders 800×480?
Anyway, I would like to hear what you got or what others are using as I’m looking for a good monitor for my 5D.

    Thanks.

I will checkout this monitor as well. I have heard though that the 5d doesn’t output hd 1920×1080 out from the hdmi port. Is this true?

How is the Flanders monitor in bright sunshine? Any ideas about a good outdoor portable hd monitor?

I got the SmallHD DP6 monitor recently. I really like it.

I use the 7″ TV Logic with the DVI input and it looks the best I have seen of all the monitors we tested.Had a friend who just bought 2 Marshalls and returned them when we put them alongside the TV Logic. He then bought 2 TV Logics. This monitor seems to be the best for focus pulling the 5D even at the 480 res .Curios to see if the Small HD DP6 stacks up against the TV logic as I think its smaller size is more practical for some situations especially with its custom zoom for 5D and retaining the 1080 or 720 size.

SmallHD has a very interesting video and text explanation of how to improve monitoring with the DP6. It’s worth checking out.

Thank you all for the great input. It is most appreciated. As of now I have temporarily put on hold ordering the field monitor as we just added a second edit suite to the studio. We are going into our heavy post production season and my needs were greater for this than a field monitor. But I will be making the decision soon and placing my order and will let you all know what I end up with and give some feedback when it arrives.

    Thanks again!
