With respect to photos, 300 ppi is much too large. Unless you are going to zoom in on the image, it should be sized to fit the number of pixels that your project uses. 720 x 480 pixels for example. Photos should never be in the megapixel range within Vegas. Resize photos in something like Photoshop or Genuine Fractals.

Vegas is not a still image editor. You should not expect high quality results if you depend on it for extensive resizing operations. In the best case, it should not be expected to do any resizing.

Are you seeing this in a preview Window in Vegas? If so, it may simply be an artifact of preview mode. If you are seeing it in the rendered file, are you setting quality to Best in the render process and giving it a high enough bit rate?

That could well be your problem.

That has caused problems in Pro 9.

Don’t be too quick to advocate boosting voltages. My Alienware portable has just burned out its video card for the fourth time because games are being played on a gaming machine. I am quite sure that Alienware will refuse to fix it this time even though they designed it. They have already charged me over $1,000 for “repairs”, but it has been two months since the last video card was installed. The system is quite stable until the video card fails.

I’m still debating about whether it should remain a boat anchor, or if I will replace the video card and use it for less strenuous activity.

No matter how you slice it, a video camera will produce a still image which, at best, is about 2 megapixels. That’s not very impressive today. It can produce 4×6 prints, but not much more than that. Also, don’t think that you can crop the image. There simply is not enough in the image to support crops.

Hmmmmmmm. There are some things you do not do. One of those is to turn the anti virus software off. There is, of course, also the fact the the anti virus software does not seem to have the ability to be shut off. It would be better to revert to release 8.

I don’t think you are following. The player in my browser stops at 14 seconds which, based on the progress indicator, is about half way through the audio. If the file cannot be played, it cannot be recovered. Perhaps it is a limitation of the player used by the browser. The only thing I can suggest is to put the file somewhere online where it can be downloaded. That would allow a more robust program to attempt to play it.

Change the preview window to Best/Full. However, that will slow down the video playback in the editing process.

  • Put the photo on a layer under the video. Then mask out the area of the video that you want to remove. If the area being masked out has a unique color, you should be able to remove it with something like the Chroma Keyer function. If the color being removed is not unique, you may have draw the mask. However, if the singer moves, I think you will have to adjust the mask to move with the singer’s outline. At its worst, than means a frame by frame adjustment.
