I guess I can try some experiments. I will probably leave it 4×3 after all. I thought maybe the uprez would let me blow it up to 16×9 without losing too much quality.

Right. That’s what I mean. I was trying to use BCC Uprez to sharpen the “blown up” image. The uprez to 1920 x 1080 looks surprisingly good.
However, I guess going to DVD (720×480 widescreen) would not look so good because of the low data rate of DVD. Thx.

Thanks, John. I’ll look into that. One other thing I discovered, is that there is an output option that puts one power amp (the mixer has two power amps) under the control of the monitor out master. When in that mode the monitor out LEDs do not work either, but when switched to to L&R out mode controlled by one master knob, the monitor section is just outputting a preamp level send, in that mode the monitor leds work fine. If that makes sense. :>)

Thanks for the replies guys. The file folder structure made by the camera and made by Vegas looked almost the same, but they said they could not use the one out of Vegas.

The P2 folder structure from the camera shooting DVCPro 100 is: CONTENTS folder then sub folders: AUDIO, AVCLIP, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE.

The P2 from Vegas uses AVC-intra and the folder structure is almost the same, but it did not have the folder AVClIP. The editor said the Vegas stuff I sent was not the right folder structure and he could not use it. Strange, I could actually play the video and audio in Vegas by just importing the video clip from the VIDEO folder.

This is for a network show that normally uses Sony cameras. When they hire freelancers like me, they will accept other cams if they are 4:2:2 full raster 1080i and 50mb or higher.

I believe they are using an AVID system. They had no trouble with the cam footage on a HD, but the stuff out of Vegas did not work.

I wound up sending Sony MXF, which they were used to and it worked fine.

Thanks. That’s what I did and they said Sony MXF, so I’m keeping fingers crossed. Any idea why they could use the camera folder on HD, but not the P2 render from Vegas?

Thanks for your replies guys. It’s an old FP42 stereo mixer that I use from time to time. The headphones are Sony MDR-7506 and they sound fine on other sources. The outputs sound fine, it’s just the headphone output that sounds thin on the right side.

Hello Donia. Thanks for your reply. I’m sorry to hear about your problems in finishing your film. I appreciate the info you provided and will definitely look into it. I am trying to accomplish a similar task.

I have many hours of archaeology footage I would like to convert from 4×3 to 16×9 SD for DVD release. The main issue I have run into is pixelization in some shots. Other than that, it doesn’t look too bad.
