OK. I got it to open. I have an AMD Radeon card and going into the Catalyst Control Center and setting Vegas to the High Performance graphics setting did the trick. It had been unassigned.

That’s not a bad idea, however, since I no longer make money from editing, upgrading is not in the cards right now.

Oh, thank you Bruce Watson about the seating info. If I could fly a sound blanket right over the talent that would be great, too!

Thanks for the replies guys! I have found that an omni lav picks up too much room noise, and cardiod lavs are too big and can sometimes have problems picking up the voice evenly with head movement. I appreciate the ideas about cutting and passing frequencies, but I have been told that the editor would rather do that in post. The hypercardioid boom mic sounds interesting, but I wonder about the rear lobe picking up ceiling vent air conditioning?? The producer picks the setting based on visual appeal or room availability, not sound issues. Have any of you tried a cardioid boom mic in a noisy
setting? Any specific microphone models you would recommend? Thanks again.

Yes, many broadcasters still use interlaced formats. So the “jaggies” live on. Sorry, I don’t have a good answer for you.
I have usually selected “blend fields.”

Here is an interesting article. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/1080i-and-1080p-are-the-same-resolution/

Thank you. I will try your ideas. The cable is a witch! It is an old lav, so that might be the problem, the cable has no elasticity left. I’ll stretch it in the sun. :>) Thanks for responding to my dilemma.

    Cheers!

Yeah, I guess you are right, but it still is a concern to me.

I just got this same BS today. Red flags: consumer looking gmail address, and no link to a company website.
