October 19, 2011 at 10:28 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 10 and Sony Vegas Pro 11 …..differences ?

Now that is a worry , whereas Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 has no issues and does AVCHD, H.264 and HDV/mpeg-2 1440 x 1080 perfectly to both Pro tape and Blu-Ray disc, and I was thinking of upgrading to Pro 11 ?

No, but a Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 works very well on PP Cs5.5.1 and Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 and any rendering on Export is virtually shown in real time, and is very fast. And works in very well with GPU Acceleration if available. The 4600 may be even batter ?

October 19, 2011 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Full Manual video on 5Dmk2

The Firmware is now 2.0.9, but, the book manual came with the camera, you may be able to download the Manual from Canon’s web site ?

Or Page 90 > Set the Mode dial to
Set the shutter speed and aperture
    >Turn the top dial To the exposure level indicator in the view finder on top of camera.
    >To set the aperture , set the power switch to the -, and turn dial at the back of camera.

PS ., This really is not the best practice, Set Tv to 1/50 sec and let it chose own aperture, set ISO at A+ Automatic it will go to ISO 6400 if required or as low as ISO 50, if overexposure is detected change speed to 1/125 sec or higher or adjust exposure compensation by -1 or -2.Otherwise you may have to buy a hand held meter or read the automatic setting off the camera, it makes No sense.

    Good luck

    Hi Carlos,

Well it does work on a i7 64 bit Quad Core PC perfectly running Premiere Pro CS5.5.1 and/or Premiere Pro 1.5.1 , my son uses a Mac but, iMovie and has no issues ? Could be the Mac , we have no suggestions there.

If it is a 3 hour project, cut it up into 1 hour sequences ?

October 19, 2011 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Technicolor Cinestyle for 7D color reproduction problem

I hate to say this , but, do not degrade the generic settings in the 7D by using the flat look of CineStyle from Technicolor. Unless you can improve on it in post production It does not look anything like the old technicolor 35mm film product. In my opinion it stuffs up the digital image to nothing like the film .
We have used 2 x Canon 5D mark II for three years using in the main Landscape style for both stills and 1920 x 1080p video PAL.

Re-Install the very latest versions from Canon from their web , page, including Canon Digital Professional you should see them downloading and installing, let it do the generic installation.

Otherwise phone Canon Technical Service, you are under warranty, used 2 of these cameras for 3 years, but, it is wise to upgrade the software, it may not come with the CD. Make sure it is for the Mac ???????????????????

Also, make sure the Mac is turned on after connecting the camera by USB2, and it is turned on to PC or MAC. The latest upgrades and there have been a lot of them may have fixed this issue.

October 18, 2011 at 9:49 pm in reply to: Cinestyle colour shift when converting to ProRes

    Sorry Vikash,

No, as I said it just did not work for me, I had real problems opening their zip files, but, their style settings seemed to degrade the image, and all you were doing was returning the very good Camera settings to normal?

All I can say is, good luck

If it’s CineStyle from Technicolor, I personally would not use it, as they say you start from a very neutral setting and the style should improve it in post, ie., from a Canon 5 D Mark II.

I stay at Landscape generic and it is nearly correct all the time for what we do.
