i dont think HDX supports Svideo. which outputs would it use? i know the aja uses the two of the component ports to input y/c, but you still have to select it as an option in hardware preferences. i have never seen a Y/C out option as a selection in the preferences for HDX hardware

thanks for the tip colin, could you post that crowd tutorial?

  • dammit, i missed it by literally 1 minute. It only went for 535! what a steal!!! i had bid earlier and didnt come back in time to raise up.

  • i tried that too, that doesnt work either. im pretty sure its just a bug. It only happens when i import photoshop files into media100 as still images. media100HD doesnt interpret the HAL file or whatever it is it creates when it imports it.

the HDe is great, we also have an HDX, which is the PCI-X version from optibase equivalent to the HD suite. the hde seems to be the most flexible in terms of outputs and inputs since it supports analog HD and SD component inputs. it also has sdi embedded audio and AES audio through seperate BNC and XLR. the only thing it does not have is a dedicated composite output or s-video which can be handy sometimes for those quick dvd or vhs client dubs. AE compatibility is great, but if you want one right now they only work with PPC macs, the intel mac software support will be available soon, so you may have to wait until after april or sometime to be up and running with the latest stuff. In the meantime you could get fcp running, kona has released intel versions of their drivers for the Mac Pro.

sorry for the late reply, thomas, but yes. since the PDWF70 has an SD out, you can change the output of hte SD output to be either letterbox, anamorphic, or crop. i am not in front of my deck right now, but i have done it in the past for vhs burn in’s. it will be under the setup menu.

i found a way to do a 1080i upconvert out of the camera… so all’s good for me. but i guess i always have to keep in mind the drawback of no upconverting on this HDe system.
