Yes I’m sure. This happened to several old projects of mine. I think it might be a bug.

    Thanks Jeff.

You mentioned a 1080i Blu-Ray. I thought all Blu-Rays were progressive. Can they also be interlaced?

    Thanks for the info Jeff!

How do all the pixels fit on a widescreen DVD? If they’re longer than the pixels on a 4:3 DVD (1.2 compared to .9) I don’t understand how that works. Could you theoretically have any kind of PAR you wanted as long as it was 720×480?

And what would the DVD look like on a TV screen if it didn’t have the 4:3 or 16:9 flag encoded in it? I’m curious what 720×480 pixels would look like without the display aspect ratio encoded in it.

Also, you said that “…your 720×480 widescreen image with 1.2 PAR would look like a 4:3 image because the computer would disregard the fact that the pixels ought to be displayed as rectangles and instead displays them as squares…” But wouldn’t it actually be 1.5:1 instead of 4:3 on a computer screen? Because if a computer interprets the pixels are square, then 720 divided by 480 is 1.5.

    Thanks!

Oops, forgot to mention that. My ProRes HQ footage is 23.98. This is a demo reel that’ll go on the web.

I already created a new sequence and changed the settings to 1920×1080, 29.97, ProRes HQ. Is there a difference between between creating a new sequence and changing its settings as opposed to doing the easy setup instead?

And does it matter if the sequence settings codec is ProRes 422 HQ or the regular ProRes 422? The 1920×1080 footage is HQ and the 720×480 stuff isn’t.

I’m doing skin retouching in a picture and I have a texture layer and a blemish layer underneath that. The first time I fix the blemishes it works fine. And then I’ll edit something else in a separate group, and then decide I want to go back and remove some blemishes that I missed, but when I go back into the blemish layer it won’t let me use some of the tools that I was able to use before. Anyone know why this is?

Half of my footage is 1920×1080 Prores 422 HQ .mov square pixels and the other half is 720×480 29.97 .mov rectangular pixels (ripped from DVDs). Some of the DVD footage is from a 4:3 DVD and the other is from a 16:9 DVD.

I’d like to create a sequence using the settings of the 1920×1080 footage but change the frame rate to 29.97.

How do I create a sequence that will best fit both types? Thanks.

Sometimes when I open a photo to edit, I’ll add a new layer and try to do any type of re-touching (like using the patch tool or healing brush), and it’ll give me an error message saying no pixels are selected.

Other times it works fine though. So it can’t be something I’m forgetting to do because I’m doing the exact same things.
