A bunch of video files. Some of the audio in those video clips doesn’t sound that good so I want to use portions of an external audio file I have. The audio file is about two hours long and I’d like to know what the best way is for syncing it to the source files or to the clips that I’ve edited in the timeline.

How do you sync a bunch of video clips to one audio file? I have an audio file that was recording sound for the duration of a shoot, and it would take a long time to listen to the whole thing and try to match the audio with the various clips.

I’m using LiveType version 2.1.4 as well, and can’t import .ipr files. I don’t understand it. I’ll try to reinstall LiveType and see if that helps at all.

Can you give step by step instructions for your second suggestion? I’m pretty new to Photoshop.

Yeah, I looked inside the library and the event and project associated with it were gone. So most likely the crash destroyed it.

The project was on the boot drive. Since the crash, I have started storing projects on an external hard drive, since I doubt the computer crashing would affect the external drive.
I’m letting my girlfriend use my old MacBook Pro to edit videos, and I had an older copy of FCPX saved, so I put it on that MacBook because it was compatible with the older OS.
I’m not sure if it was a kernal panic. I’m not familiar with that. I believe when it restarted it said, “Your computer was restarted because of a problem.”

Thanks for your replies, everyone. Very helpful!

This is a pretty old thread but I had the same problem and “fixed” it. I noticed from the screenshot of the original poster’s timeline that the problem clip that became black had text over it. I had the same problem. I just moved my text over one frame and it started to work again. I have no idea what caused the problem in the first place or why this “solution” works, but I thought I’d let people know about it in case they needed a quick fix.

I just moved the text file over one frame and the clip became visible again and the sequence exported. This is obviously an FCPX bug.

I just noticed that a certain clip in my timeline that had text on it only showed a black screen. I deleted the text on the clip and it became visible and I was actually able to export the sequence. So whatever was making that particular clip blank must be the reason why the share failed. Anyone know why adding text over a clip could make that clip blank? I’ve encountered this before and I just restarted the program and it played fine. But for some reason that isn’t working now. Maybe I’ll redo the text and see what happens.
