“Accelerate effects using OpenGL” seems to be checked but it is grayed out and I can’t change it.

Thanks for your reply but I can’t see where it is to turn off accelerate rendering.

Here is something that you could try. Go to Layer > New > Adjustment layer. Click and drag this layer to where you want your Shatter to begin. Drag it from the middle, not the end which just changes the length. Drag your shatter effect on to the adjustment layer, itself. Not the preview screen. That’s it!

You were right, something was amiss. It was an AE question but my mistake. I hadn’t created a new composition first! I’ve been using another application and I get confused between the two sometimes :o). Thanks.

Thank you for the info on suitable footage files. That might explain a few glitches I have occasionally! I have Adobe Media Encoder so I should have a go at converting to Quicktime.
About uninstalling Quicktime, after things went wrong I did a system restore to lose it. Then there were still problems so I reversed the system restore, to keep it. I’ll remember what you advised that using Quicktime uninstaller is best. My version is 7.6.8 (1675).

Thanks very much for that tip, holding down alt+ctrl+shift while starting ae. Now I can import my .wmv footage. When I drag it into the comp button, it plays at normal speed. But when I drag it to the timeline OR the preview screen, it’s back to that 120% speed. Anyway, it’s a great improvement and I can live with it for a while. I am still only a beginner, as you may have guessed!

Hi Erik. I got it working right now. Maybe missed a scale k/f. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for that but I did have a k/f set at the start. i.e zero. Then I moved along setting 2 more. One with position moved and the other with scaling UP. So why is it then showing scaled UP at the start?
