Ripple Insert Button grayed out
Trying to trim a video in the footage window and I can set the in point and out point OK, with the { and } buttons. But when I want to add it to the composition, the Ripple Insert Button is grayed out. Never noticed this before. What I am doing wrong?! Overlay edit is also grayed out.

You were right, something was amiss. It was an AE question but my mistake. I hadn’t created a new composition first! I’ve been using another application and I get confused between the two sometimes :o). Thanks.
