Mr. Wiggins, I have a question you might be able to answer, what is that elongated egg shaped building in London with the diagonal strips?
And why were the British/English wearing that flower on their cloths for such a long time, what was that flower?
Thanks!

On the E and Style network virtualy all the news programing and much of the long form programing is ALL XDcam. They have 20 remote trucks, XDcam baby.

The episode was about Sushi and the shot was AB looking at the camera with a pot on screen left and the wood paddle on the right. He spins the paddle and you get a kind of half field effect where on several alt frames you see a slightly transparent paddle head.

I have a sense that you will not use MPEG2 products in post. If this is correct, why wont you? What are the issues that you have with MPEG2 products or technology for post?
At the very least lets get that info out on the table.
You have made what I would call a back of your hand hit at XDCam with little detail other than referring to it as an MPEG2 format, what are your issues. Broad ad-homonym attacks are fine for making loud statements but why do you feel this way?

I have used XDcam (not XDCamHD) for a network show and was mighty impressed. I did not know it was running vie MPEG2 compression and was happy as a clam. When I realized it was MPEG2 (I looked at the browser window) I was shocked, I tell you shocked!
Did I mention I was impressed? I have seen the HDV stuff and I have issues with it, I , like so many others have concluded that a major issue with HDV is the MPEG2 compression, and the long GOP thing. These issues do not present themselves with the XDcam format.
I would love to see the HD version of XDcam. I have heard from a person who buys all the video/sound equipment for a national network that the quality is fantastic, but I have not seen it and will not assume anything about it until I do, perhaps at B&H.

I have had some of my most rewarding equipment expereces at B&H!
About that 95%, I think I can add another detail. Long ago I was introduced to what I came to call a religious war which when understood helped to clarify all arguments about the a spacific subject, 16mm film cameras.
Indy film was not even a word yet something was happening when two companies offered compeating cameras for a growing number of film productions in both doc and narrative. Arri and Atton, what a boring fight, my guy won by the way!
This past experece was a valuabe one for understanding and dealing with this public web opinion stuff. As you might know Arri and Atton was pre Sony Panasonic, that war rages now and lets not forget Cannon. People take sides, people respond to these cameras and companies base on looks, advertising etc its like some kind of religious war.
My point is simple, many many many times I have read someting which seems off or just plane stupid and wrong and I remind myself of the war that is going on and I understand that what I have just read is junk and has nothing to do with hands on experice its all to do with Coke or Pepsi. People actualy seem to want to kill you if you say anything good about Sony or bad about Panasonic. They actualy go to forums thay hate and spout junk which is anti the products that might be the subject on that forum, WHAT A WAIST OF TIME!
So Arri and Atton are still at it they just have different names, I like the competition which makes things better for us and no snot nosed kid who thinks he can draw some blood is going to stop me from culling the wheat from the chafe.
