October 29, 2007 at 3:21 am in reply to: Fatal Error: message: could not find installation directory – reinstall sidechain compressor ??Ppro is nosey and probably found the plug-ins directory in Cubase like Aanarav mentioned, but may not know what to do with the SideChaining VST(I think its a dll in Cubase4), there is a update(4.1)(over 100MB) to Cubase on line at Steinberg, I think it handles chaining differently it appears its built-in to the effects now, but since Ppro is giving errors the best way maybe to uninstall both, clean the Ppro directories, and then reinstall Ppro first then Cubase with the 4.1 update.
I’m taking a shot in the dark as the computer I have Cubase on is on its can, and I’ve got Studio 4 on my portable DAW which I just updated. -

One of the reasons I was suggesting to turn your laptop into a DAW using soundbooth and one of your mixers is audio control, second is time, recording to tape is out as you are limited to the ammount of time on a tape, if you record using On-Location you are recording useless video along with the audio plus each hour is 13GB, a long session would need larges ammounts of disk space compared to audio only, using your cam as a converter would work but you are using a expensive item for a simple job, as a consultant I have setup recording medical procedures in the past, then there was the advantage of recording video and sound to Svhs up to 6hrs, depending on the procedures done would determine the time length, that is something you would have to work out with the medical personal, another thing if the mics are going to be in the ops theater with the personel is sterilization, we worked around it by using wireless mics, the packs and mics were under the gowns.

[Larry1] “I want to drive a second monitor or projector with just the output of the program monitor”
You will have to undock the program monitor and drag it over to the second monitor, and then drag the borders to size it to the size you want, when you exceed the native size of the of the video in the monitor window the video will start degrading, you can’t just vector the program monitor video to the second monitor

[Selfie] ” can capture and control the deck.”
What model of deck?
[Selfie] “It will start the deck in pause record mode and then stop when PP2 starts to play.”
Ppro puts the deck in the Pause/Record mode? -

[Tim Kolb] “When Blast said a “system” reinstall…I’m sure he meant Windows itself…”
Thatsa exactly what I meant, if a reinstall of the app didn’t work out too good then a clean install, also prior to install check for BIOS updates, firmware updates, driver updates, etc.
