I am having trouble exporting to DV tape. I’m using PP2. I have noticed that in the Play back settings that no External Device is recognized under the General settings. I use a firewire connection to a DV tape deck. It will start the deck in pause record mode and then stop when PP2 starts to play. Any ideas ? It’s driving me crazy !

There should be an export to tape option. However, this is only if your camcorder is recognized by the system and CS2. Are you able to capture? If so, you should be able to record back. If not, trouble shoot what the problem might be.

I use the same deck for both capture and exporting back to tape. For some reason it isn’t recognizing the export device.

Do you get any video on the DV deck (not in the export mode)?
If so, you can manually start recording on the deck and just run the timeline, so it’ll record your video.

PP2 will start the deck in record/pause mode and then just stop when the timeline starts up.

Check and see if the workaround I suggested does the job.

That doesn’t work either. For some reason in my PP2 Project Settings\Play Back settings doesn’t see any external device.Under Real Time play back or Export.

Can you capture but not export, or nothing goes in and out?

I can capture and control the deck. I use a combo JVC unit. I had just sent it in to get it checked out.Had a long talk with JVC tech support. We now think it is an Adobe issue.

[Selfie] ” can capture and control the deck.”
    What model of deck?
[Selfie] “It will start the deck in pause record mode and then stop when PP2 starts to play.”
Ppro puts the deck in the Pause/Record mode?
