[Steve Eisen] “I have been using A/B batteries for 20 years (BP90’s, ProPac, Hytron, Dionic). I recently switched to the ANJI Lithium Ion Battery. The 160W battery costs $384 and the 190W is $436. The Charger is only $236

    Here is a link:

Even though I’m sure they are just as good, I’m always leary of off-brands – especially in the power department.

How long have you used the Anji batteries? Can you vouch for long-term reliability? I used to use Aspen batteries (which I think are actually defunct now!).

    Thanks,
    Bill

Thanks Peter, but what format do you suggest recording TO? Tape? hard drive?, etc.

    Thanks

You might have the trial version of Flip4Mac installed. It limits you to 30 second clips. Try the full version:

April 25, 2007 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Quicktime Import Doesn’t Show Up!

[Bret Williams] “Not sure why you’re not seeing something, but you’ll have to render the animation codec before it plays back in real time. Why not export from Media100 as DV50, 720×480 (not 640×480) 29.97 fps, lower field first, and then import into your fcp sequence? It should show up and you won’t have to render.”

Thanks for all the info, Brett!

I guess I forgot to mention that I’m using an OLD Media 100 system!!! I think it’s still at version 7! So, DV50 codec is nowhere to be found!

I also tried rendering the animation codec and it looks OK in the sequence – I just can’t see the video! Oh well.

A while ago I heard that FCP had a M100 codec available for importing M100 files into FCP. Has anyone heard that?

Thanks for the great info! BTW, do you have to shoot in 24p (at 720)? Or can you go 720/30p?

    Thanks again

[bogiesan] “Were you planning on working at lower rez and then recapturing at full? Recapturing can be a total nightmare in FCP. Not like redigitiizing in M100 at all. Not at all.”

No, in fact I never did that with M100 either (although it had the capability). I just preferred to digitize what I needed at hig-res and not deal with re-digitizing!

I will definitely try the DV50 codec. In fact, I think Sony’s XDCam is coming out with 50 MB/s capability after NAB (I think it’s 35 MB/s now).

(Anybody correct me if I’m wrong).

    Thanks again…

Thanks Bogiesan! We actually have both systems running and yes, it was quite a difference when we first got our FCP!!

FCP is better in a lot of creative ways, but M100 definitely is the winner for “quick & dirty” productions!

Thanks John! Is there anything else I need to be aware of while using DV50? – rendering, etc.?

    Thanks again

Interesting, I just sent back a new 7200.10 Seagate drive because it was acting up (1 of a 3 drive array).

Let’s hope the replacement is OK!!

Thanks for the info on the upddated Seagates.
