1. Phantom IN/OUT Marks in all windows
2. An icon on thumbnails that tells you “clip used in current or all timelines” So when you are searching for that last shot you have not used you dont have to dig through every clip.

Jeremy is correct that the SD is mpeg, sorry for that one, I post all the HD stuff here not the SD. I will post the HD specs on Monday just in case they are useful for anyone.

I send to DG all the time and I have a spec sheet from them that walks you through all the settings to export straight out of FCP using quicktime H264. Ask them for the specs and it walks you through it step by step with pretty pictures and all, including how much black/slate/black/spot/black they want on each side of the content.

If all else fails and you have two decks make a copy of the original source tape and use the duplicate with “new” continuous timecode as your new source tape. If you are feeling real ambitious do assemble edits on the new tape and take out the real bad sections manually.

Yes is the answer. Do it on the timeline then export. One of the effects reads the timeline timecode and the other one reads the source video timecode, I assume you want the source video timecode. Still new to FCP myself so the exact name of the effect I don’t remeber, I just played with it quickly, but it will do what you want.
