My Top Ten Wish List for FCP in 2010 – What is yours?
Posted by Peter Wiggins on December 30, 2009 at 8:21 pmAll,
As it is the end of the year, I thought I’d put together a list of things I’d like to see incorporated/fixed in FCP in 2010.
It is only a bit of fun, but who knows, the Cupertino folk do look at forums from time to time. 🙂

December 30, 2009 at 8:30 pmNo major new things. Fix or add all the small things that will make editors beam.
Get rid of clip collision
allow me to overwrite a stereo pair
transition preservation
Integrate Motion style tools for doing moves on stills. Or just fix the built in Ease in/out, because it sucks.Shane
GETTING ORGANIZED WITH FINAL CUT PRO DVD…don’t miss it.

December 30, 2009 at 8:36 pmMy 2010 list looks much like my “2007 FCP Wish List.”
a. Fix everything that’s broken or doesn’t work as promised.
b. Make good on all broken promises.
c. Put some pizzazz and color in the interface
d. God bless us, every one, cuz we’re cool.bogiesan

December 30, 2009 at 9:28 pmThe keyframe editor is my big pet peeve too! At least give us indpendent x/y controls and a crosshair tool for moving the anchor point.
4:3 safe area overlay in 16:9 timelines.
Better caching for sequences with lots of stills. I edit lots of animation leicas (aka \\\”animatics\\\”) and the endless re-caching can be agonizing!
command-deselecting a clip also deselects incoming and/or outgoing transitions.
Realtime drop shadows for text (or is every machine I\’ve ever used just too slow??)
Happy new year everyone!

December 30, 2009 at 9:44 pm– ability to toggle between the source and canvas timelines like in the Avid, and being able to cut in the clip rather than the nested clip without having to command-drag it into the sequence
– a “find in bin” option where i can find the bin that holds my sequence
– a way to link “system settings” to a project -

“That exists now and has existed for some time via the use of Preference Manager from https://www.digitalrebellion.com.

December 30, 2009 at 9:54 pmlook how quickly wishes come true. although, i will say that this isn’t incorporated into the product, but thank God for 3rd party apps.
i’ll add a replacement wish:
– a way to select multiple transitions and modify the duration or transition alignment -

December 30, 2009 at 9:56 pmThere is 4:3 title safe markers in a 16×9 sequence. They’re small but they’re there.
Better keyframe editor indeed! Just port the one from Motion.
Fix Ease In/Out.
UNDO HISTORY LIST Please!!! It’s 2010 already and I can’t get a report on what I’m undo-ing!?!?!

CMD F9, CMD F10
These three commands have been in FCP for many versions already.

December 30, 2009 at 10:08 pmOk, maybe i should be posting to the “basic” forum. so, you’re right about “CMD F9, CMD F10”, but for the toggling, i’m trying to see a “viewer timeline”.

“OK, I see…. if I understand you correctly, FCP can’t display source footage from viewer in the timeline.
