FWIW, Try exporting a master QT file first and then compressing your output files from that. Several times I exported directly from the sequence to h.264 and others and ended up with a green border on the right side of the frame. No such issue when I export a ProRes 422 QT as a master, then compress from that master file to my distribution formats.

As far as I can tell, C100 only includes the most basic metadata. A nice camera but with so many crippled functions. 60p would be nice too.

Unfortunately, the C100 doesn’t come with the XF Utility. The software it comes with appears only to transfer & stitch mts files from the card to another storage location. So it’s no help. I don’t think XF Utility is compatible with C100 AVCHD files.

Still looking to find if the C100 records metadata and how to access it.

So far, Canon email tech support says yes but no help in actually accessing it.

Check out the Drift HD camera. Has an LCD monitor built in.

I’ve used the panavise 809 suction mount with the GoPro on exteriors of race cars going 130 mph with no loss of cameras. Clean the surface and the cup and make sure the surface and cup are dry. Gaff tape over the cup as an added security.

Kodak Zi8 is 1080HD, has external mic input and some decent image stabilization.
The GoPro Hero has difficult monitoring capability, poor audio, no external mic input and fixed focus. Oh and the menu system can be a bear if you’re not familiar with it. Field of view is 120 – 170 degrees, think really, really wide angle.

I don’t know exactly off the top of my head but it was in the +/-$1K range. Ouch! It was out of warranty, I bought it used.

Bad news is the money I saved on the used camera was spent on the repair.

Good news is that I have a camera with a brand new sensor block and everything up to specs as new.

It continues to serve me well. I’m good with it.

Sorry to hear that.
I had a magenta spot develop on my EX1. Visible when the lens was closed way down…f11-16. Turned out to be a scratch on one of the sensor chips.

point your camera a the sky or a brightly lit wall and close down the iris, see if it becomes more visible and distinct. If so, it’s probably on one of the sensors.

Sony service took care of it and replaced the assembly..on my dime.
