Cross. Definitely a bug. And you’re right. The workaround doesn’t seem as smooth.

I believe the failure to do fadeouts and fadeins when generating a mpeg2 or mv2 is a problem with ppro 1.5 and 2.0. The workaround I use is to put a clip of ‘black video’ to dissolve to or out of.

  • I’m probably not the Bill Buchanan”/Video Machine…” you have in mind. There’s another Bill B in this area that I get accused of being from time to time. Regarding existing projects, you shouldn’t have any trouble upgrading to V2 or with BMD drivers. I had ongoing projects when I made the change. No problems whatsoever. Nevertheless, you should backup your project file(s) before you open them in V2. Good luck.

  • You might consider giving or selling PPro 1.5 to someone you don’t like, then acquire PPro 2.0 and another gig or two of RAM. Frequent crashing is a feature of 1.5 you got at no additional charge. Apparently Adobe removed the crashing feature (for the most part) from V2, at additional charge.

When I experimented with it about a year ago, I found that it noticeably degraded the image (because it has to blow the frame up more or less depending upon how erratic the camera movement is). Has that issue been addressed in more recent versions or patches?

  • You need to dump V1.5 and get V2. Most if not all the issues you’re dealing with have been addressed and fixed.
I’m currently working a complex 90 minute timeline with about 5,000 clips in the bins with no slowdowns or interface white-outs or crashes…knock on wood.

After installing 5.6, tried to open Speed Disk app and got the following error message:
Application failed to start…cannot find MFC.71.DLL and so. Anyone else run into this?
