not sure if that will work. here’s a really simple version of what I’m trying to do –

if I have a comp that is 12 frames long.
I have only 1 sold layer in it.
I only want to change the opacity of that layer to the values below in order.
    2,6,3,8,1,5,3,1,4,5,4,2
I do not want to manually have to frame forward to each frame and adjust it, just want to be able to copy and paste those number into the layer somewhere.

what might be the code/expression and where and how exactly might I put it? sorry, I’m brand new to doing expressions.

    thanks!

right now i have a timeremaped layer that has an expression pointing it to a slider so I can move the timeremaped layer back and forth between the first 8 frames easily.

or is it easier if i just copy the number and past them into a expression or into the keyframes? but I have no idea how to do ether of those things. they are separated by returns now, but i could change to another formate if better.

i don’t want to use the QT from toon boom to animate with. I just want to use the raw number list it generates so i don’t have to tweak a QT file, that becomes a problem if i have to do that.

I could export out a QT from toon boom that just has 1 dot that moves around to 7 different positions on the screen, then have AE track a motion using the tracker, then if i could somehow use that tracking information to tell the slider where to go it could work.

I will try to figure out the best way to explain what i need and post something on the expressions forum like you say.

Did not want to bore anyone with the whole story but here it is then.

I’m building some traditional hand-drawn animation and using after effects animate. In order to animate the lip movements of someone talking I have seven diffrently drawn frames that match different sounds of a human voice. It Is very labor-intensive to have to match each sound to each of the 7 frames by hand. There is a program called tune boom that allows you to import audio and it will match each of the 7 frames to the diffrent sounds using an audio recognition technology it has. maya is the only other program that also has this technology. You can then export it as a QuickTime. But that only thing I want to use this toon boom for is the readout of frame numbers so i can keep all the animation in AE if that makes sense.

Sorry if my question was confusing. Another program exports out a QT movie that I then import into AE, and then I have to match the slider in AF to the numbers in the QT.

just wanted the slider value to be, but I guess I can just ignore the the decimal place, and just look at the whole number and it works fine. 2.01 or 2.93 gives me the same results. so i’ll just ignore the other to digits and all is good.

that didn’t seem to do it.

basically i have a comp with 18 frames, each frame has a drawing of a different perspective of a head. with the slider i can easily scroll through the different faces when i use it with timeremaping. the slider goes from 0-17. BUT, I don’t need the slider to display 1.3 for an example, cuz i don’t have .3 of a frame. i only need it to show numbers 0-17 in the slider bar.

does that make sense? is it possible?
