I think I solved my own problem, and could someone confirm this for me also…quicktime is not a big fan of alpha channels? when i render with an alpha, it stalls and freaks out…without an alpha, all is good…again, just a casual observation, can some one confirm this?

thank you, your advice has been very helpful…

  • You know how normally (this is from an avid viewpoint but the same applies to final cut) you can select a deck and anything that is in your record monitor in source/record view is shown on the monitor connected to the deck? I want to be able to do that without the deck, using my camera to put video in via firewire or the onboard HD-SDI BNC connection. If I have a DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 card, and the corresponding bnc to component cables, can I plug the component cables into my hdtv and the bnc cables into the card and monitor the record window from either program. My only concern is that some hardware is either FCP compatible or AVID compatible. Will the DeckLink HD Pro 4:4:4 work with both, becasue it dosen’t mention Avid in its documentation…

I know that if you have a deck attached you can preview/capture through the deck…do they make any cards that would be compatible like that, compatibe out with final cut and avid?

No mojo, it is directly connected via a firewire cable…like I said windows recognizes it and it works great (except some print to tape problems) in Vegas…any ideas…tried check decks, tried reebooting with it plugged in, tried a whole bunch of things, no luck…thanks for the help so far…

ps-what is the purpose of mojo?
